Battery Replacement Install
Battery Replacement Install
2006 Infiniti G35X
I ordered a new battery from Advance Auto Parts which claimed free battery installation that I figured was too good to be true for our cars and of course it was. He said it was a 45 minute install. The mechanic down the road is quoting me $50 to put it in so I figured I'd try and do it myself.
I looked in the DIY thread and searched a bit but didnt find much of a tutorial on it. Is there anything anyone could point me to so I can get a good idea on how to get this done. Also any other information you think I may need to know would be much appreciated.
Thanks!

It's sooooooo easy. Remove the plastic cover, disconnect the positive and negative terminals, then unbolt the mounting bracket and reinstall the new battery in reverse order.
I don't think the battery will fit through the hatch cover. You have to remove the plastic that the hatch cover mounts on. There are a bunch of plastic clips that need to be removed and if you do it right theclips can be reused.
its REALLY easy. I never changed my battery on my G yet but many other cars. They are all the same. Its just that some are in different locations. All you should need is a wrench and some sockets would speed things up.
I changed the battery on the G, ran into one small problem. I replaced with a larger battery so the positive cable was not long enough to reach the terminal. I had to buy a cable extention so it would reach with a solid connection.
Oh, it is also a complete b*tch to put the lock on, so have patience... If I did this with no planning (battery died, replaced in front of a True Value) while on vacation. I am sure you will have no problem as I was able to do it, and I am definitely not a "gear head"! Good Luck!

Yea just like bossman said , remove that plastic piece on top of the battery towards the windshield and its an easy swap, just be careful with the fuse box and the clips if u want to reuse them. and if u do break the clips there is a whole bunch for sale on ebay. like 20 clips for $3 including shipping

What do you mean by be careful with the fuse box? do you have to remove it to get to the battery?
Sorry I'm not very car savvy haha
Mine died not too long after I bought it. Jumped it and ran down to Advance down the road. The guy wasn't that bright and basically told me he had no idea how to change the battery. I told him to give me a 10mm wrench, a phillips and a flat head screwdriver. Used the flat head to remove the clips. The 10mm to take off the terminals. Was done in less than 10 min, and that included some other guy wandering past and wanting to take a look at the engine bay. Never used the phillips head, but I didn't know at the start.
