Considering a G8 GT as a replacement to my totalled G35

Jeff,
Definitely go with the G8 GT. You've been talking about them for years as the future replacement for your G35. That day has arrived, just a bit earlier than anticipated. You already know the advantages and disadvantages of the FM platform. It's time to move on to something newer and generally easier/cheaper to modify. The GT comes with the God's very own powerplant so the power potential is endless and relatively simple to achieve. Be patient, find the car, and pull the trigger. G8 GTs are out there. Believe me.

Thanks Dave. Local or sort of local research hasn't come up with much. Therefore the one in Maryland. lopix, I aksed the wife about that, she said "Jeff, you retarded?" No way she's taking time off to go drving cross country. She's already not keen on buying an out of state car sight unseen.

A simple cars.com search reveals there are tons (well over a hundred) of G8s available within 500 miles of Kansas City. There are 20 listed within 500 miles of Seattle. Is there anyway you can get your funds into the $23-25K range because that seems to be the range for most GTs. If you find one within 50 miles of Kansas City, I'll go look at it for you. Also, look at Carmax. They'll ship most any of their cars to their stores for $200-700 and their used cars are cream of the crop. We had a loaded 07 Outback shipped to the KC store from their Tulsa store for $250. It was a risk and cost a little more out of pocket, but the car was just as good as they stated and I didn't have to waste my time and money driving 7 hours to Tulsa to look at a car.

Once you weed out the V6 models and the cars with over 35,000 or so miles, the list gets real short. Then factor in the max price I'm thinking of.
I guess the max range sort of depends on my payout from insurance but you have to remember that with incentives, these G8 GTs were only about $27k. I find some of these asking prices unreal.

To play devils advocate, AC delco isn't going anywhere i wouldn't get too concerned about that part. And I also doubt highly that there's much on that car that doesn't cross over to another model.
Definately a good point though. Domestics aren't like the *** stuff though they outsource everything so the parts should still be available.
Besides, I'm sure Jeff's not going to be doing too much OEM replacement anyways :P
Maybe the stupid sexy car pic is clouding my judgement. Quite possible. That car is just pure win.

I have always been a fan of the G8 . And a couple of days ago we got the Firehawk edition at work . I believe its number 9 , there is nothing better. Think Top Gear when Richard tested the white Holden just not so loud of a supercharger. But it is definently louder than other charged cars that I have heard.
