Air Conditioning Problem

I have a 03 g35 sedan and the air conditioning is blowing hot air. I just changed the filters. Any ideas? And does anyone know a good, trustworthy mechanic in San Diego. Tierrasanta area?

check and see if your compressor is clicking on. how do you do this? turn your car on, turn off radio and ac. open your hood. now turn the ac and listen for a click coming from the engine, if you dont hear that then your compressor clutch is out or need freon. if you need freon then you have a leak.

I may have a leak bro - I heard the click loud and clear. How much do you think that should set me back?

also i forgot to mention, check your radiator fans the one on the passenger side is for the ac make sure it is running. if its a leak i would recommend taking it to a reputable shop, hopfully it will get resolved.

correct 03 Sedans have one single fan driven by the motor. If your clutch is engaing then your low on freon. If your really out of freon then your AC compressor wont kick on at all. If your getting hot air then I would suggest picking up a recharge bottle at any autostore and test it....if you come back low you can fill it up yourself and save yourself time of going to a mechanic.

save your self even more time and take it to a shop

sorry but if you dont know where to even start you should take it in

the ac lines are under alot of pressure and I wouldnt trust a $20 quick fix from a parts store

source - I used to work at a parts store and saw more people mess up their entire ac system than fix it

I went for the $20 quick fix, I've been driving this thing for 8 years, if it dies... meh.

I filled it up till the compressor kicked on and the air got cool, it's not quite as cold as before so I'm guessing the pressure is ok. Took me about 15 mins. Autozone didn't have a guage, Pep boys has one for $6 bucks, I'll probably pick one up and check the pressure tomorrow. Hoping there is not a major leak.
