My wheel bearing just went bad on my g35x as well, drivers side too. Im pretty sure the shop I brought it to quoted me a little too high, especially on the parts, prolly gonna buy them myself and pay someone to do it since I dont have any tools right now. I feel kinda dumb for not knowing this, but on the estimate sheet theres a part that says *NOTE* R/R Center cap has half of tabs broken, and R/F has a few tabs broken. I have no idea what they are talking about.

First, like everyone else i vote for wheel bearing. My driver side sounded the same. Oddly though i believe my passenger side is going and sounds/feel different. More like a whirling vibration at high speeds. Changes with steering input as well. Cant remember if the driver side changed with steering input or not.

Lunchcube, They are talking about your wheel center caps. They dont want to be accused of breaking them when they were already broken. Standard practice for shops to cover their ***.

i had the opposite effect when swerving with the same conditions. Swerve right silenced it and left made the noise. It was the right wheel bearing.

FYI: wheel bearings for the Gs cannot be ordered byitself- you need to order the hub assembly.

Also easy way to test is, lift your car and see if your wheel wobbles.

I cant speak for the RWD guys, but i know that AWD wheel bearings can be ordered separate from the wheel hub. This i learned from experience. They are more difficult to install because you have to separate the hub from the bearing with a special tool and press.

Also my driver side bearing was producing the "propeller noise" you speak of, yet showed no signs of wear or play when trying to wobble the wheel. The only sign of defect was a very slight rough spot when you rotated the bearings in your hand.

My passenger side is currently going out to the point of producing noise and vibrations at high speed. Very different symptoms than my driver side. This one i do expect to find my wheel wobble when lifted off the ground.

I guess my point is that there can be many signs of bad wheel bearings and not all of them may show in your car. Best of luck to you.
