6MT or Auto, Why?
5AT
simply because that's what i have
and btw, whoever said that the car goes into the lowest gear possible when you floor it in MM mode is wrong.
in my 2005 5AT sedan, when I'm in manual mode, I'm in full control, the only time it'll downshift is when the rev/speed is too low for the current gear ie. if you're going less then 50 km/h in 5th gear etc.
other then that, it's perfect.
and btw, won't the r35 skyline gt-r have a 7-speed tip-tronic system too? like the f1 style cars?
that's what i've heard. if this is true, doesn't that mean it'll be clutchless and stick-less?

I got the Auto because i drive into Downtown Atlanta every morning in the early morning rush hour traffic. If you ask me, manuals are a pain in traffic, especially in early morning traffic when i'm still waking up.
The tiptronic is good enough for me right now! Not a true manual but gives my the rush i need when want to hear the engine roar.

"25% of the time, I'd love to drive a stick. It's that other 75% I worry about."
I have to agree with the above quote. I've enjoyed more than my fair share of MTs, and I love driving them like nothing else. But- I got this car as my daily driver.
Living where I live, there is no shortage of hills, and forget about traffic! Going down to the Strip would be, to me, a nightmare. The combination of all the damn speedbumps that you have to slow to a stop for (lest you scrape the crap out of your car), traffic, and jaunts up and down slow-moving traffic in parking garages... screw it.
There's nowhere here I can open it up without worrrying about a cop hiding behind a Yucca tree. If I were going to be staying in Indy, I would've gotten a 6MT-- lots of great twisties. I have to admit, though, this car is still fun as hell with an AT. If you know how to drive and can judiciously use the MM, you won't have any problem tackling the twists.
I'm not going to get a 6MT for the sake of saying I have one. Sometimes my brain overrules my heart.

PS- the poll is worded in such a biased way it cracks me up. You'll most likely get a lot of people not even bothering to answer in the AT category.

MTs are made for tractors and cars that dont have the power to handle an AT. I've had both, ATs rule.. The G5 AT has the perfect stall speed for great launches and and AT can shift at 1/100th of a second.. try that with your MT. And the AT leaves your right hand free for that big gulp, or that sexy lady in the passenger seat..
Do you think next year the 5AT will have 298 HP like the 6MT? I'm guessing with the xtra 18 HP, having a higher final rear gear ratio, having 6 speeds, and being able to put more HP to the wheels compared to an automatic transmission, it seems like a 6MT should be noticeably faster than the 5AT. It would just be awesome if the 5AT would also get 298 HP!!!

Think about that in rush hour stop and go driving. AHHHH...G...no 6mt for me !
Sell your G and buy a Crown Vic. Auto's are for wimps and the handicapped. Can't really respect a man who doesn't know how to drive a stick.
Don't take me too seriously, I'm just joking around, but really, how can a person beleive a AT is better than a MT?

OK , My years as a class "A" CDL tractor trailer driver with a 9 speed 1986 KW cabover gave me more miles of driving a stick than you will in a life time. You enjoy your stick, I'll enjoy my coffee. The last stick I had was my 94 Cobra and it was great.

I think people with stick shifts like to drive harder then people with automatics. I noticed I should be driving an auto because I have such an aggressive temper, and driving a stick I can easily drive erratic. Its easier to just cruise the auto, and I think those are probably the people who are little more "mellow"?
