Ok Gents Some Help: Tranny Smoking? Under/OverFilled?

First off thank you to everyone who contributes to this forum. It has been very helpful an saved me some real $$$.

Yesterday I changed the radiator to a mishimoto I bought. I also bought the silicone hose set as well. Everything went fine. Bled the system (took forever). However, when I test drove it, the bottom hose which transports the ATF into the bottom radiator came off the radiator about a 1/4 mile down the street. I stopped turned her around and then went back to my old hoses. However, the nipple on the mishimoto is slightly bigger so I had to boil the hoses and really turn them on. I then filled half quart by half quart of ATF back into the system, however, i could not get a good reading on the dipstick. (the "red liquid" didn't pop out, I was really looking closely for fluid etc..) do I drove it 10 miles, when I came back. I noticed that my reverse was slipping and then when I got out, the engine bay had faint white smoke coming out down under the tranny dipstick area. I thought I had blown a head gasket, but I check and coolant levels were fine and the engine oil had no signs of coolant in there.
So im thinking I either under filled it or overfilled it. Also, the intake hose was spot dripping on the pavement. I am thinking tomorrow I am going to drain the transmission pan check how much ATF comes out. However, should I "test" drive it? to warm it up? or just open the plug?
1. if more than 4.25 Qts comes out, I will fill with 3.5
2. if less than 4.25 more than 3, I will fill it with 3.5
Does this sound right?
3. If less than 3 comes out What should I do?

Any info would be helpful Thanks a lot guys!

There's not enough fluid in it right now.

The tranny takes up to like 10 qts but I think only 3.5-4 drain out of the pan right?

I thought it was more but after researching that seems right.

I think you'll do more damage under filling it than over.

Thiers no harm to transmission by overfilling.

Majority of fluid is in the torque converter.

If overfilled, the vent tube is attached to transmission dipstick bracket and fluid would flow out onto top of transmission bell housing.

But if you under fill it and drive you can really f*ck it up quick. Keep adding slowly until u get a dipstick reading.
