I have done the research earlier and this would save you the time and the money. It's not worthwhile to just replace the bushings. The labor cost is too high. It's cheaper to change the rods and the ball joints which are included in the compression rods. I replace them for $600 for both rods with ball joints, of course not at the dealer. Just make sure the rods come with the ball joints because they also come without the ball joints. Hope this helps.

I replaced left and right side compression rod bushing when I noticed the creaking entering a driveway. One year later both compression rod ball joints went bad. Wish I just replaced the whole compression rods the first time. You wouldn't think the compression rod ball joints effect suspension/steering performance as much as they do...they set the caster, which is very important. Your car will handle terribly during turns and drift big time on the highway. You won't notice this until you get the new rods.

I just replaced the bushings on mine, as the ball joint was fine. The ball joint is also cast as part of the rod, so I am not sure how you can get the rod without the ball joint?

Anyway, I had some fitment issues with the ES bushes, but they are all ok now.

If you have access to a press to remove the factory bushing, you can do it yourself. If you want to stick with the factory type bushing, you can buy these without buying the whole rod, but you will need press to push in the new factory bushings. no press is required to fit the ES bushings.

You could always remove the arms yourself and take them to napa. I have the whole front kit and love em.

The rod also comes without the ball joint so you retain the original ball joint. I shopped around and that's how I found out.

Fair enough, just don't know how you remove the ball joint, when it is part of the rod. have you got any links/pics?
