I never noticed it staying cooler, better idea would be to just delete the coolant line that circulates behind the throttle body. These engine bays get so hot anyways it's really just splitting hairs at this point

People will debate it till the cows come home but the difference is negligible at best. Get the basic

Coolant bypass is a good mod for power.

But it WILL affect cold starts and idle in colder climates. The purpose of this is to warm the throttle body/incoming air to get the engine up to temp faster and ease cold starting.

It does a great job too, and in fairly negligable ways extends the life of the engine. But that portion really is splitting hairs, especially when you're aiming for more HP.

And on the cold start bit, I did the bypass on my Maxima and never had an issue with starting or cold idle - Southern Ontario temperatures.

^This is my personal feeling on it. If you're going for power you're better saving the differnece and buying other go fast goodies. As far as I know all the spacers have low heat transfer qualities, so unless you're getting steel pr aluminum ones, you'll be fine.

Depends how far down the rabbit hole you want to go lol

You said you installed a z-tube, did you get a new filter as well? If not pick up a K&N filter, best bang for the buck.

Dont neglect regular maintenance either, New spark plugs are good for around 3 hp as well if they're old.

High flow cats or test pipes of some sort would be the next place to go for gains, followed by an uprev reflash and cat-back exhaust.

the classifieds, any of the vendors, craigslist, ebay... lol They're very common man, I think 6 or 7 different companies make them. 5/16" is the best thickness for overall power gains, there is no problem with used ones either so if you can find one go for it.

It is a gasket, but a very thick one. It allows more air to flow to the cylinders, and thus more power. Its a defect in the plenum design that the spacer overcomes
