Question about factory anti-theft system and door

So someone stole an ipod out of my car last night along with some change. No broken glass or any damage from what I can see. This happened in front of my house sometime between night and this morning, however I did not hear my factory horn go off at all. If the factory alam is enabled/set to lock and someone opens the door isnt the horn supposed to sound?

Well I tried it this afternoon, rooled down the windows, locked the doors with the keypad and the horn honked notifying the doors are locked. I checked the 2 doors to make sure they were locked and they were. I reached through the window, unlocked the door manually and opened the door, but the horn did not go off.

Is the horn not supposed to go off, or is it? If it is supposed to go off, how can I fix it?

Edit: woops I just realized I posted this in the sedan section, I have a coupe is there a way to move this into the correct forum? I tried to delete it but dont see that option.

There's your answer (the door was no longer locked).

So you are saying that if my door was locked, windows rolled up and someone came and either shattered my window then unlocked it manually from inside the car and opened the door the horn would not go off?

Or better yet, if someone came with a slim jim to unlock my car then open the door the horn wouldnt go off?

That's kinda odd... I crack my windows in the garage and leave a spare key in the car. I reached in the widow once and unlocked the door and opened it and the alarm went off.. Gotta be something with the time it took from the lock condition to the unlock. Maybe you did it fast enough the car thought you were still inside?? What year coupe?

I noticed it waits a few minutes before actually enabling the alarm. If you lock it and reach through the window, nothing will happen, but wait 20 minutes and try it and the alarm will go off.

I've also left the windows down, and unlocked, went back into the house for a couple of minutes, came out to find the door had locked, reached through the window and opened the door and had the alarm go off, so it does enable itself after a while also.
