Need help/advice with either plastidipping or painting my grille

My car has about 115k of highway miles on it so the grille itself has a few nicks and scratches but nothing major like cracking, etc. I really like the idea of a matte black grille but idk whether I should paint it or plastidip it.

If I plastidip it, how should id do it and what should I need other than 1-2 cans of the stuff and how long will it last? I live in Chicago. I've read seen that you should do 5-6 thin coats and wait 10-15m in between.

If I paint it, what exact brands, quanitiy, and how should I got about it? Do they do rattlecan matte?? and matte clear??

Clean the grill. Let it dry.

Plastidip a few coats over it.

Your done!

I plastidipped my Grill and it looks fine in my opinion. I did about 5-6 coats but of course the weather isn't too harsh here in North Carolina.

I kind of like the idea of a matte paint job that will last but not sure if anyone has done that before at home with rattlecans

I did a lot of reading/Youtubing on plastidipping but none on matte paintjobs... I am not looking for generic tutorials. I want to know what products/methods worked well and what didn't for a G35 grille specifically in the long run which is why I am asking you guys to give me specifics and insight.

IMO matte black on emerald mist = fail. (edit mixed up my paint colours, thought that was the grey-sandy colour, my bad.)

gloss black grill on OB

Plastidip is great for matte finishes but ive never seen a gloss one that looked good, and grills should be gloss, IMO

^ He did a matte black grille just the way I would do it while leaving the Mt. Fuji emblem untouched. I think it looks very classy.

^That's what I did with mine. I took The grill off of the car, removed the mt. fuji emblem, then put a few coats of plastidip on the grille. Didn't touch the mt. fuji emblem. No flaking or anything yet and it's been about 7 or 8 months.

Mixed up paint names in my head there, sorry
Some reason I associated EM with that sandy-grey-beige shenanigans.

I retract my previous statement, it will look good, do it.

Tunermax, is that your grille? If so what did you use on it? I have an OB coupe and am debating on what will look good finish wise against the black paint. That looks a lot better than the usual matte black, so I was wondering if it was different... Thanks!
