Bad fuel mileage?

I've got 62 miles on the trip odo, and a little less than half a tank left...I know they say that new cars don't get as good mileage until it's worn in, but you gotta be kidding me!

I don't drive with my lead shoes on...Where I live you can't go fast, I drive "average" and sometimes faster depending on the situation. Back into the miles on this tank of gas, it's like 7mpg! I noticed with the fuel mileage display (with nav) even pushing on the gas very lightly on accelleration the "economy leaf" shows that it's barely breaking 10mpg

Shoof, I agree with Dinoone "Heavy Foot Syndrome"
My mpg is improving as I put on the miles, and, if I can keep my foot out of it. I usually get at least 180 miles on a half tank and that is city/highway(75%). In winter your mileage rates are worse with cold temps, and warm ups, depending on your location. I now have almost 2,000 miles on my X.

So let's say it was "lead foot syndrome", I would think the mileage should be 13-15 instead of the 19 that the EPA suggests in the city. I'm looking at 7mpg average!

How many miles you have on your ride shoof. That mpg is BAD. If you have it broken in, I think I would get it checked out.

That is the absolutely worst gas mileage I've ever heard for the G35! No doubt you're pissed.

Did you read the thread about fueling and gas tank sensor issues that others have experienced? https://g35driver.com/forums/g35-sedan-v35-2003-06/41797-gas-tank-sensor.html. Maybe this is related to your bad gas mileage. IE You didn't get a full tank from which to deduct the 62 miles on your odometer.

Just a thought.

BTW I'm getting around 16mpg on my 04 G35x with 12,500 miles on the clock. Mostly city driving. It was a bit better during the warmer months.

To create 280 HP requires roughly 160 pounds of gasoline [~~26 gallons] per hour. Study Brake specific fuel consumption.
If you held a constant 140 mph that would be 140/26= 5.4 mpg! [give or take].

10 mpg in constant acceleration sounds very high as the acceleration is very over rich compared to constant rpm. Maybe 5 mpg during WOT acceleration........half a gallon per minute. But then again you can't run WOT for a minute before hitting the speed limiter.

My average mileage is also terrible. I average b/wn 10-12 mpg on 93 octane. Car has 1,500 miles on it. I think Infiniti needs to come clean with the actual mileage for this car.

I took this pic on Thursday... My car is brand new, I only have it for a few weeks...What made me wonder the most was that I filled up my first tank in the car, I pumped in a good $35 of gas, so I put quite a lot of gas in there, and the estimated amount of miles to travel was 161, I was thinking WTF....the mileage is horrbile...Little did I know it would be even less than that!

I have ~1000 miles on my 2005 G35x so far and do about 70% highway/30% city. Been hitting ~300 miles by the time the fuel light comes on.

My 2004 G35sedan is not great on fuel either. I have 11500 miles on it. I do mostly 2/3 hwy and 1/3 city although the hwy can be stop and go at times. I average 18.5-19.5 MPG. On a rare occasion, I may see 20.5 or 21 but that is very rare. I Live in So Florida so the air conditioner runs frequently which I am sure contributes to the so so MPG avg. I did think I would get at least 22 or 23 though. The epa ratings abosulutely stink! EPA needs to rates vehicles as they are used in the real world because we have to drive them in the real world. I suggest complaints to the EPA and your congressmen and senators as they can control the epa.
By the way, I use Mobil 1, 5w -30 changed every 3000 -4000 miles.

i get about 19mpg on average. 50/50 city/hwy. But hwy is also about 30% heavy traffic. my light comes on around 320-340 with about 3.5-4 gallons remaining (if the gauge and fill up is correct)

Sounds like you might have some bad gas in your tank.
