I have a doggy-door 2003 G35 sedan and will be replacing compression rods. After reading many posts on this site, I've decided against replacing just the bushings and my dealer quoted a price of $199 each. I would like to find less expensive aftermarket parts if possible.

I checked a variety of on-line sources like Rockauto, autopartswarehouse, Napa and others, and learned their aftermarket parts (made by Beck/Arnely, Dorman, etc.) only offer parts for the coupe. The parts department at my dealer, and the on-line sources noted above, told me the coupe and sedan compression rods are NOT interchangeable.

Anyone have an aftermarket source for 2003 G35 sedan compression rods? Thanks in advance.

the arms are the same for coupe and sedan, i order my new arms for my sedan off rockauto and got the 'raysbestos' versions which said they were for the coupe but they fit perfectly on my sedan

Arms and Compression Rods are different..... the Compression Rods are NOT compatible between Sedan and Coupe...
however you can get just the bushings OEM for $55 shipped but then you'd have to have someone press out the old, and press in the new, the $199 quoted from the dealership, informs me that they don't know what they are talking about, the doggie door G35sedan compression rods are retail $304.75 each.....

if thats what hes needing replaced, that is what i ordered for my 04 sedan and it says coupe only on the rockauto page....and well they are on my car so i guess that solves that mystery.

Terrible first post OP, there's so much info on this forum about compression rods..if your car is lowered you're pretty much wasting money buying oem ones. You can get solid ones that will never fail for 60 bucks to your door. Search ES compression rods.

I gave my dealer the VIN from my car and while I didn't call a 2nd time to confirm, he quoted the $199 price for the compression rods and claimed to have them in stock. Given the retail price Phil noted, it seems my dealer is offering a very good price.

Not sure what to think about mcdizzle's reply that the raybestos coupe part fits on his sedan, but the part shown in the link he provided is the compression rod as far as I know it.

My car is fully stock and not lowered and the OEM compression rods lasted 107K miles. Not sure if Infiniti is now producing a more reliable bushing that's pressed into the rod or not, nor do I know if the parts in stock at my dealership have been stting around since 2003/2004.

I know about the aftermarket bushings that are available, I've just made the decision not to go that route.

Replace the whole rod

you can also order the urethane bushings from nismo.com for an early 350z

If you don't mind the noise they'll be making within a few K miles! Then you'll pay any price to have them replace with OE bushing!
