tire light question
tire light question
so i had a flat on my tire and swapped on the full spare (05 g35x premium) and noticed the tire lights still on..i got the tire patched up and filled back up with air and still the lights on. do i need to buy a new tps or?
What does the tire light do when you start the car?
Solid light?
Or does it blink for 60 seconds and then stay solid?
I had to use my full size spare last Summer and the light has been on and off ever since. It usually turns on about 20 mins into a drive, but doesn't make the long, loud beep like it does when your tire is actually low. I just assumed the battery was running low on one or more of the sensors.
In the full size spare there is definitely TPS.

solid light..i unhooked the battery..still on...and yes its easy to ignore its been about 9 months jus figured i wanted to get rid of it before i put new tires on because the ones now are worn
Your TPS senders may need to be reset, like "re-registered" before the system will work properly. There is an "activation tool" and some steps to go through. I assume tire places know how to do this by now, maybe. Also the TPS units do occasionally fail.
My full size spare did not come with TPS, just a standard valve stem.

My light tends to come on after some highway driving, but no alarm. I'm assuming one of the sensors is going bad.
No rush, it has been a couple years now
But, to figure out which one it is, I would assume that I would have to swap out some. Buy 2, replace either the front or the rears, and do some highway driving. If it doesn't fix it, replace the other set. Unless one is out in both the front and the rears, this should be able to find it.
But time consuming, and requires that someone mounts the tires.

If your spare is back in the trunk and you have your original tire back on after being repaired the TPS warning should have gone away. It's possible they damaged the sensor when repairing the tire. If removing the negative side of the battery for an hour didn't remove the warning go to Nissan and ask them to reset your system....Gary
Seems odd they wouldn't have the spare registered with the car. I know some Lexus do.
Wonder how much they charge to reset it.
That's weird. Maybe mine does just need to be reset then because it started turning on during the 1000 miles I drove with the spare on. I now have the regular wheel on and the spare back in the trunk, but still get the light about 20 mins into my morning and afternoon commutes.

The full size spare is a 5th OEM wheel, so it probably travels down the same assembly line as the other 4 and cars that get the full size get allocated a 5th wheel to live it's life in the trunk. prob cheaper than a seperate line to create a set of wheels without the TPMS.
However, i do recall one instance where i put my full size spare on and the TPMS light came on. When i put the full size spare on, it never went away. Fortunately the car was under warranty so the dealer reregistered the sensors. So perhaps driving on 3 does cause a fault of some sort?
Either way...the TPMS system pissed me off that it's not so user servicable. I'm pretty good with working on cars and it aggrivates me I don't have as much ability with this system. My light is blinking a system fault and i bet one of my sensors batteries have died. I have a perfectly good one in the spare but without being able to read the system codes, i have no idea which one. So that means i have to take a trip to the dealer, pay them to identify the dead sensor, replace it, and reregister and charge me a buttload.

Needless to say the lights been on for about 5 months and bugging me
