Oregon and Jersey require gas to be pumped by a certified professional that has undergone specific training.
They are old laws dating to the late 40's or so, but have been challenged over the years. Biggest arguement against repealing them is the loss of jobs.
I personally hate full-serve. Had an attendant hit my car with the nozzle once and put a decent scratch in it. never again. Thankfully 95% of everything here is self-serve now

When its freezing and pouring rain lm glad they have to do it! Yea and the gas in jersey is cheaper than Pa.You would figure since they have to pay someone to pump the gas it would cost more. I cant complain about that.
A significant factor in the difference in gas prices around the country is the state gas tax that is buried in the price. Taking the two posters above as examples, CA tax is 48.5 cents per gallon, PA is 32.3 cents per gallon, while NJ is only 14.5 cents per gallon.
