time for a tune up?
Awesome thank you!
Silver and copper plugs are great conductors, but wear fast. Back when copper plugs were the norm, you'd change them out every 20K miles. I still run coppers on my Mustang because the primitive fuel injection and ignition system doesn't handle platniums well. Thanksfully, it's a 15 min job.
Well, my car is all fixed now and rides smooth at all speeds, lol. I did fix a lot of things at once though.
I would make sure it's balanced, aligned, and none of the wheels are bent. Try jacking up each side and grab each tire push up, down, and side to side. See if you have any play at all.

Quick question, I was going to buy the NGK Iridiums but I bought the NGK Laser Double Platinums. I haven't installed them yet as I am waiting to purchase the Motordyne 5/16" Plenum spacer and install the Maxima valve covers I just bought as well. Should I stick with the Laser Dbl Plats or go to Iridiums? I just want to change them while I'll have easy access to everything.
This is the plug I bought.

That's a stock platnium plug. You can install it. Honestly, you'd prob never notice a difference between stock plugs and iridium.
Couldn't tell you how much to pay. I can tell you it took me about 1 hour to change both on my car. Not a big deal if you have any sort of DIY skills.

Spark plugs i feel is a 1 hour book time job, its not hard nor easy but the plenum stays on so its quick.
Belts are insanely easy to do, book time should be 1/2 to an hour.
So figure most shops want $100/ hour as a average. You should be walking away wit $150-$250 of labor. Maybe have them throw in a oil change and air filter.
I'm at the shop right now and 2 if the 6 spark plug enclosures has oil leaking into it. Seems like it just needs a new gasket to seal.
The mechanic says that will be an all day job since he has to "take everything apart". Is this true? I was reading up on it and it didn't sound like the case.
I'm not going to get this done today but how much am i looking at for this job?

From what I read you can't replace just the spark plug seals unless you use a hole saw. You could do like I'm gonna do. I bought some 04 maxima valve covers and gaskets and will be changing them out as soon as I buy my Plenum spacer .
I may be wrong but I hear the G's had a bad Rep for leaking into the spark plugs.

I had the same problem at about 75k. I ignored it and drove it to 120k and did another spark plug change. I had a little oil "sweat", but it was very little. Almost seemed to fix itself
. I am at 186k without fixing it and have never had a problem from it. I dont think its a major issue, but ymmv.

Yeah I've been doing my research and it seems the #6 cylinder plug needs to be extended a bit to reach properly. I paid about $109 for both valve covers and valve cover gaskets. I'm gonna paint them gold though before I install them.
Good luck with your G. Sorry for thread jacking.
