time for a tune up?

My car just passed the 100k miles Mark and starting to have issues. First is a squealing noise on cold start ups. I heard it was due to loose belts?

The other issue is when I'm hit around 70mph my car starts rattling. Feels a bit unsafe. Anyone know whatthis can be?

Plus i haven't had any major service done to it since purchased at 44k miles. Maybe a tune up is in order?

You also wanna change the plugs, and flush the coolant as well. Belts should be changed every 60k as well. You got a full plate of maintenance my friend

Highly recommend the NGK platinums to you, but what you choose is up to you.

Regarding the rattling, does your steering wheel start shaking at around 30 to 40 mph? If so it could be a wheel balance issue.

No,everything is smooth until 70mph.

And thanks Everyone for the tips. I've got this Thursday off so planning on bringing her in.

Is there a good place online to buy belts and spark plugs?

I'd stick with iridiums, they are used solely for long life (~100k miles)

i would buy OEM belts.. not that expensive from sponsors or online oem sites...

NGK Laser Platinum is OEM: PLFR5A-11

I would also add differential oil to the list.

Iridiums are for better performance (debatable) but 50k is about all you get from them. Platinum is for max longevity.

Thanks! Just purchased these.

With the belts, how many belts does it have? Alternator, ac and power steering? I just need to know what to get. Thanks again!

You have it backward. Iridium is for max life due to its density. It's in the same class as platinum but denser, and I believe a poorer conductor. Nology silver plugs are actually the best plugs out there because silver is the best thermal and electrical conductor of ALL metals. Problem is, not sure how often they need replaced. Cuz we all know changing plugs on a VQ isn't a walk in the park

You need two belts.

Does your whole car rattle? When I hit 70 my steering wheel used to shake, center console, and AT ****. It was very violent and would hurt my hands after awhile, lol.

If you have aftermarket wheels I'd make sure there are hubcentric rings installed and they are sound. I'd also check for bent wheels and make sure they're balanced.

It rattles but not as violently as yours seems lol

Also I have the 2003 sedan and when buying belts it asks if the production year is pre or post 10/02? How do you find that out?
