05 6mt Sedan Rev Light
I just picked up my 05 6MT sedan and it's got a REV light in the center of the dash that stays on all the time. It also has a little red square light below it that flashes in all gears. Dealer says that it's supposed to tell you when the optimum shift points are, but the red light flashes at me even when i'm in sixth gear. Supposedly Infiniti has sent the 05 MT's with out the proper software to fix this right now and it's supposed to come out with it in a few months. Which at that point when they get the software they are supposed to be able to program your car to flash that little red light at what ever RPM you want in each gear.
Anyone else had this same issue????? It's really annoying having that red light flash at you all the time. Usually in my line of work red flashing lights means something bad is happening!!!!!

Do you know how to change your shift light?
Don't worry I was confused at first too. Use the tripometer button, until you see the 4 digits ending in two zeros. Hold down the trip button until it blinks. Then you can press or hold the trip button to set the RPM higher. I have mine set at 6800 so it doesnt start flashing till 6300 (500 before the solid), at 6800 it turns solid red. You can set it where you like, from the dealer**** mine was at 8000, kind of pointless there unless you do not want it on.

Thanks for the help! I do remember now messing with the trip meter and all of a sudden the light started flashing. Stupid KC dealer had no idea what they were talking about. It's amazing how clueless the dealer can be. Do you know if it says anything in the owners manual on how to set that? I glanced through it several times and never saw a word about it.
I can't believe the dealer didn't even know what it was.....idiots, they shouldn't be selling a car if they can't even explain the features correctly. I would go down there and make them look like fools.
my dealer told me that during the break in period, the REV light keeps on at all times. After you do 1st oil change, they take that away. They say its there to remind you not to floor it, though Im not 100% sure this is correct. Anyone who has the car and read the manual can explain what this REV thing is?
My manual does not describe this feature at all. Apparently some manuals do. It was only from one of these forums that I found out how to set it. My dealer did not know either although the service people did. It would be useful to know if they can turn off the REV light without disabling the flashing red warning function. Anyone?

Look in the index of your owner's manual under "Up-shift indicator". The description on the REV light is on page 5-16 in my owner's manual. It doesn't say anything about being able to turn off the "REV" letters, and I too would like to be able to do it. My guess is the only way would be to disassemble the instrument panel and either remove a bulb behind the "REV" letters or place something opaque behind them - I'm contemplating that in the back of my mind but will wait until I've had the car for a while longer to see if I get used to it.
Just picked up my G35 on Wednesday! I ordered it a few days before Christmas, so it's been a long but now worthwhile wait.
