Just got the Z's midpipe installed on my 05 6MT sedan. I was originally thinking coupe midpipe, but I spoke with Z Car Garage here in San Jose about it, and they do a custom fit Z midpipe. After talking to Rob at Z Car (nice guy) about which way to go, I decided to go with the Z midpipe.

Result: AMAZING improvement in the sound of the sedan - much deeper and "throatier" than stock, but not over the top. It definitely passes wife acceptance testing (an issue for me at least), and I can still drive a client around in it, but it sounds a LOT meaner.

By my calculations, a fair bit cheaper than the coupe midpipe to boot.

Thanks to Z Car Garage for steering me to this solution. Highly recommended.

The only difference would be length cuz it's shorter meaning you would have to use an adapter. Was the midpipe + adapter cheaper than jus coupe midpipe?

Whole thing installed was less than the $235 cost of the coupe midpipe on mynismo.com. Agreed that the Z midpipe is shorter than the coupe's, some welding surgery was performed to make it the right length. I've not seen the coupe midpipe so it may otherwise be identical, I dunno.

^^^WHS^^^
That is my understanding....
same only shorter & requires extension.

JMO,
But coupe pipe is still the best choice.
You can get a used coupe pipe for less than $100

They're identical except for the fact that the G coupe middy will bolt right in without adding an extention. A 10% mark-up will get it for about $180.00 plus gaskets and about a half hour of your time to do it yourself...JBX

I made some sound clips of my 2003.5 Sedan with the stock midpipe vs. with the coupe midpipe. I also made pics comparing the size of the two. Posted this stuff at https://g35driver.com/forums/g35-sedan-v35-2003-06/47509-finally-got-my-midpipe-highly-recommended.html.

If you can find a used coupe midpipe, it's hard to beat the price. Mine cost me $50. Bolted right up without any hassles.
