Infiniti.Nissan computer for ECU, etc?
Infiniti.Nissan computer for ECU, etc?
Sorry if this has been addressed before but are there software upgrades or resets that have been recommended by the manufacturer that require a Nissan computer at the shop? I ask because I have been taking my 05 6MT to a very good mechanic ever since the warranty expired to avoid the dealer. He is fine but have there been recalls or TSBs that have to do with reprogramming. I am very sensitive to this because I had a Volvo whose transmission was destroyed because it never received a software reprogram that only Volvo could do and I never heard about the TSB. Thanks.
The only reprogramming I've heard about in recent memory was for newer G37s with the 7-speed auto trans.
There are occasionally updates for the ECU code, but honestly the only place I've even noticed was looking through the ROM Support Matrix for Uprev tuning software. For example: my 06 6MT was originally at version CM41B, and when I flashed it was updated to the CM41C master ROM, then dyno tuned from there.
The only time I've heard a dealer mention an ECU update was on my old G20 and the MAF and O2 sensor had gone out, supposedly it needed an ECU re-flash to function properly with the revised OEM parts.
