Will a 24F battery fit the 2004 sedan battery tray?
I have a diehard platinum group 35 battery that is on its last legs. I'm looking at putting in a 24F battery this time due to the larger capacity. I know the 35 fits, and there is a lot of talk about 24F vs 35. A lot of that seems to be sedan vs coupe though. Can anybody confirm a 24F battery fits in the first gen X sedan? I'm not worried about the wiring fitting in the exact spot as I have aftermarket wiring and terminals there so I have plenty of room to move things a couple inches. I just want to know if it will fit normally inside the battery tray. The height seems to be the same as a group 35, so I don't expect any issues there.

Measuring the battery tray is a little cumbersome when the current battery and everything associated with it is still installed. Could certainly be done once the old battery is out, but I wanted to know which one to get before I got to that point. Seemed easiest just to ask if it has been done before.

When I priced replacement batteries for both my previous 06 G35 and my present G37S the dealer prices were competitive so I just let the dealer replace them.
Everything always works when I left after enjoying the snacks and watching TV.

Did you try asking the parts department at your local Infiniti dealer?

I'm not going to do that. Closest actual infiniti dealer is 4 hours away, plus I don't want to go with a regular lead acid battery that the dealer would provide. For an AGM, they probably only would do Optima if anything. Also, the dealer will just put a group 35 in for sure because that's the stock size. I'm not worried about doing the replacement myself and on top of that I have a bunch of accessory wires that I don't want the dealer messing with. I ended up getting a bosch AGM on cyber monday for $110. It is at the in-laws, but I'll find out in a month if it fits. I think it should, or at least close enough I can make it work. Thanks for the suggestion though.

It should fit
Don't forget Nissan can work on your vehicle as well.

35 and 24F normally are interchangeable.
One is slightly bigger, thats the one i normally get because of the higher CCA.
I would think Iowa is similiar to chicago weather, u will need all the CCA you can get.

Sorry for the necromancy, but I didn't find a 100% clear answer to the OP's question from someone who had installed a 24F battery in a V35 sedan. This thread is the clearest asking of the question I could find.
I installed one today in an '05 sedan, and it fit with PLENTY of space. The terminals are not even touching the battery cover. I imagine the coupe might be a little tighter, but the sedan has abundant space for a 24F. Installation was really no more difficult than the 35 I had before. The retaining bar doesn't fit quite perfectly -- the edges of the retaining bar with the L-shape cross-section don't meet the edges of the battery quite right, but the battery is still retained without any wiggling.
With battery prices going up so much over the past few years, and Advance Auto no longer doing the 40% off coupons on batteries, this saved me $50 or so, and I got a stronger battery.

Group 35 seemed small for a V35, as when I worked in autoparts I noticed a lot of the late model import V6 sedans call for the 24/24F/36R or even 65 for some domestic, whilst a lot of 4 cylinder cars are group 34/35/51. I was curious if the the 24F would work, did you have to modify the lower tray to get it to fit?
FYI - At least in my area, most of the autoparts stores all use Johnson Controls for their battery supplier. That in mind, just buy the cheapest/best warranty you can, as the battery's are all exactly the same with different stickers for the different stores. Even the Optima batteries are made by Johnson Controls...
THANK YOU for an actual answer to the OP's question (as well as mine).

All batteries are moving to maintenance free, a joke , a play on ignorance, an advertising dream!
I have run desultification on my Diehard one time five years ago and have added distilled water to it every two years. I just went out and turned the key in 29° F ambient temperature and I got one click and nothing.
So if I can't resurrect my DieHard one more time I am going to have to bite the bullet and get a B.S. P.O.S. Maintenance Free (not user refurbish-able is what it should be called and ONLY made so they can sell you more batteries sooner!!! It makes me furious that some people just don't know anything anymore and so the rest of us must pay extra for their lacking!).
What REALLY sucks is its the Wednesday after Cyber Monday so I missed all the sales!!!
At least my car has been good to me, 255k with only the Radiator ever being replaced (besides parts that wear out like brakes and oil filters). The car has been BULLETPROOF and still gives other drivers the business if they want to see if they are faster than a nearly antique infiniti, most loose, some stay close, and only the rare few pass me by! I love my car, love it, love it just so so much! BLACK on Black 2003 G35s (have window sticker, has S package with aluminum hood and such, imported from Japan to Hawaii then to Norfolk VA.).
