2003.5 Sedan Safe Mode, rough idle, etc. saga...
My car sat for about a year after it developed a really rough idle and started dying at low speed/rpms. 178k miles on the car. I recently tackled it, replacing the battery (it was dead of course), and the spark plugs. That didn't fix the issue, it still likes to die when i start it and I believe it is in safe mode, as the RPMs won't go above 2k. The dash is showing the SLIP, CHECK ENGINE SOON, and VDC OFF lights. So I took it to the stealership and they pulled the following codes:
P0101 MAF SEN/CIRCUIT
P0103 MAF SEN/CIRCUIT
P0113 MAF IAT SEN/CIRCUIT
They wanted almost a thousand bucks to replace the MAF sensor. I told them nah and took the car home, pulled the MAF sensor and cleaned it. This did not fix the problem. Before I go out and buy a MAF sensor and go down that road, is there anything anyone else can think of that I am missing here? I did not do any of the ecm/electrical resets I have seen, where you stop the pedal five times in five seconds, etc. Should I try this or just go out and get a MAF sensor?

The MAF sensor is one of the few sensors that I will buy aftermarket but check online, you can get the OEM Hitachi MAF0031 which is JUST the sensor for about $50. If you cracked the MAF housing then order MAF0029 which has the sensor and the housing.
Where are you seeing it for $50? I haven't checked my housing, but when I pulled the MAF and cleaned it, the electrode looking sensor didn't look damaged or even dirty really.
Awesome, thank you very much.
Do you know who makes the OEM part? I am finding HItachi and Duralast MAF sensors...

Delphi is the correct answer......

Final follow up on this one, I bought a replacement MAF, threw it in myself, and did the ECM reset procedure. Fixed the car and cost me about $200. Stealership wanted over $900 to do this work.
