Wheel Stud Repair

Has anyone replaced a wheel stud on their G themselves? I drive an 05 sedan; yesterday on a road trip I started to experience some vibrations coming from the rear with a lot of road noise. After I pulled over I found that one of the bolts on the left rear wheel was missing, and the stud was sheared right off. Honestly, I have no idea how this happened. I know for a fact I didn't over torque my wheels, or strip the lug nut and tighten it crooked when I put my winters on. My only guess is I forgot to re-torque my wheels, causing the nuts to back out after driving for a bit and cause extra stress on the studs. But even this doesn't seem valid as I can't see myself forgetting to perform such a simple task.

Anywho, I'm wondering if anyone knows of a DIY for replacing the studs. I don't think there's much room behind the hub to get a stud remover in there...

On another note, my right rear has waaaay too much play when pulling the wheel while holding it at the 3&9 positions. Looks like I might have to replace the bearing and hub assembly.

Easy peasy, just changed 2 of mines last week. Try to get the hole of the one your changing positioned at 12 o clock and slip the new stud in from behind the hub bearing (assuming you've already hammered out the old one) next get some washers (about 6 or 7) and slide them over the stud and use a lugnut and a ratchet to pull the stud forward while you tightening it. Works everytime for me

And this was on your front hubs, or rear?

The process is the same whether it's the front or the rear. That's how I've always replaced mine.
