Re: HELP!! WHEEL STUD STRIPPED

Do you have a tap and die set? Are the threads mashed up? Is the lug nut screwed up as well? I never replaced the wheel stud on a g35 before, but on my cherokee I just hammered the stud out since it was pressed in to the hub assembly and bought a new one and pressed it back.

Re: HELP!! WHEEL STUD STRIPPED

Considering you stripped it, you're better off bringing your car to a tire and wheel shop to have them special order the item for you and install it. Your other option is to bring it to an Infiniti dealership and have them take care of it, but they'll charge you up the *** for something like this. Expect the stud to cost $35-$50...........it's the install that's gonna cost you.

Re: HELP!! WHEEL STUD STRIPPED

Many shops like Autozone or Pepboys may carry it. It may be the same size as the sedan or even the same as other Nissan products. Go check it out. It is fairly easy to install it yourself. Expect to pay less than $ 5 per piece.

Re: HELP!! WHEEL STUD STRIPPED

I tore off a stud in half on my last car. I had to take it to a muffler shop to have them press off the old stud and had them press on another one. Cost me about $45 bucks.

the stud is 12mmx1.25. this is the normal size for almost all infiniti's. If you have a 12mmx1.25 die you can easily take care of this yourself. Just put the die on the bad stud with a little wd40 and work it on and off until it threads on easy.

Drop by Nissan and buy one, go home and take your wheel off bang the old one out with a sledge hammer and install the new one with a little WD40 and your lug nut and wrench. Last time I bought one it was $1.25 give or take a few cents....

i did the same thing last summer,

go to advance or autozone and tell them you need a wheel stud it only cost like $12,

go home take off the wheel, caliper and rotor,

hammer out the old stud put new on in

use a nut to tighten it to the hub,

put everything back together it takes about an hr to do, good luck

*100th post i really need to stop just lurking around haha*

I would not recommend you driving with only 4 studs because of the off balance forces that can occur...

FOr the guys that beat me to it. Go to Auto Zone or Pep Boys and order one. If you have the money then you can pay the dealers to install it for you but it would be better to do it yourself. You'll get the better pride of working on your own car. Or you can pay someone that know how to do it. It should be easy though.
