Problem SOLVED! Engine cranks, no start and no fault codes!

What: 2005 G35 sedan with automatic, bone stock.

What happened: while driving, car lost power as in no acceleration when gas pedal was pressed. Came to a complete stop, upon restarting, car started rough with check engine, vdc off and slip lights ON. Drove for 20 seconds and car died again! Then, car wouldn't start again. (Other nuisance faults: check engine light came on few minutes before car stall, heard a grinding noise coming from the bottom of car.) (Hint: I had put 395 miles on a full tank but my fuel gauge was showing nearly half full of gas!)

Car was towed home to my garage, and troubleshooting began and lasted for 2 weeks till tonight.

The Fix - my fix was twofold: old battery was replaced and fuel was added; my car was out of gas!! (when key was turned to ON, my fuel gauge showed 1/3 full of gas! What gives?! I put in a fresh gallon of gasoline in, and my car started again!)

Lessons learned: when either gas is low or extremely low or battery is about to die to the point of no recharge, all kinds of problems can occur.

What's next? Figure out why in the world my fuel gauge was so off!!

You may want to search the forum for the fuel gauge not reading correctly. It's a widely known issue, however there are a couple of different causes.
