Are all vq35de engines the same??
Are all vq35de engines the same??
Pretty much a simple general question I've used the search function but I keep pulling up Altima and Maxima engines and stuff like that.
My question is the 2003 2004 2005 and 2006 vq35de engine without rev up or HR.
Are all those engines the same and pretty much plug and Play.
I have a 2003 G35 sedan 6Mt the engine's got 270,000 MI.
I found an engine from a 2005 automatic with less than 70,000 MI the timing covers look exactly the same but are the plugins?
I know the 2003 and 2004 have narrow band sensors on the exhaust.
But can you install a 2005 non rev up engine into a 2003 without any modifications did they add any extra sensors or anything like that?

as far as I know the engine itself is the same with 2 differences that I know so far
mainly there's a difference between the RevUp and non RevUp engine
there's a difference in the rings used between manual RevUp and automatic non RevUp de engines ( different angle and gap)
o2 sensors instead of a/f sensors in headers I early vq35de.
I once took a non RevUp (auto) engine block and installed RevUp heads on it to use temporarily (the block was missing the Oil temp sensor threads) so that sensor wasn't used for a little bit.
she ran good without issues.
as for any non RevUp engine they are the same. I do know they had 2 revisions for the DE due to oil consumption so I think the only difference that could be between 2003 and 2006 non RevUp engine are rings, ring gaps or their placement.
