Hello! So I have a 2004 Infiniti G35 Coupe, and I just bought it, and it had gotten automatic, to manual swapped by the previous owner, and I found out that the reverse lights do not work, what can I do to fix that and make them work, because my car needs to pass inspection but it will not be able to, so I need some desperate help right now. The transmission is from a 2005 Nissan 350z apparently if you need that information.
Gonna take a stab at it although I don't really know anything. Found this illustration from a 2005 350Z FSM. Looks like the Reverse switch should be on the driver's side. Before you go tearing it apart, make sure it's not just a fuse or something simple...

Okay, good to know, I did check the fuses, so thanks, but do you think that he just didnt plug in the reverse light plug? So you would assume that I should just be able to plug it in unless the lamps, or the fuses are bad?
Again, I'm no expert, just reading the manuals (which you'll find here: https://www.nicoclub.com/infiniti-service-manuals - scroll down to model and year, click download below the window to get the pdfs).
But here's another clue. Fuse # 83 in your IPDM shows an output to "Back-up lamp relay (A/T)" and "Back-up lamp switch (M/T)". If your car started life as an auto then you probably have this relay "E19" mounted in front of the battery? But it looks like the M/T just used the switch directly. We can presume that this relay is already wired to the back-up lamps but you'll need to find a creative way to trigger it from the manual trans switch...

oh gosh, so its not plug-and-play from the A/T. That sucks... Thanks for the FSM too btw, I was scouring for that, but man... okay. so if I can find what the wires that connect to the switch on the M/T then I can probably jimmy rig something is what your saying??
That's what I'm saying yes, but it will take some effort. Dig through the "PG" Power & Ground FSM for your car. It's not an easy read but all the circuits, connectors, wiring harnesses and wire colors are in there. It just takes some serious decoding. If you can figure out how that AT relay is wired, whether it needs ground or +12 to flip and send power to the lights... then you will need to find out if your MT has the switch and see if you can run wires from it to that relay. If the relay only needs a ground then you may only need one wire to run from trans to relay...
If you're not electrically inclined then you should probably seek some help. You should be able to make it work but as I say, it will take some doing.

sheesh okay, thanks so much for the help, been great, This is my first vehicle, but I have built computers, and understand wiring diagrams if that is something. But thanks for helping to send me on this rabbit hole haha. If I figure it out, I will submit another reply.
Pretty sure I went over all that in detail with scribbles on FSM pictures in this thread. If you still have questions reply back to THAT THREAD and ping me with @cleric670 (make sure to pick my name from the list or it won't actually ping that user) and I'll see what else I can dig up.
I think cleric670 has basically explained everything we would ever need to know about our Gs somewhere in this forum. Amazing! That previous thread clearly describes all the details the OP is looking for. Excellent work!
