New G35X, used spare tire

So I pick up my brand new 2005 G35x today. 10 miles on it. I do a visual and road test before signing papers.

When I got home and was putting stuff in the truck, I decided to check out the full size spare.

I lift the optional trunk mat, truck carpet, and the fiberboard cover, and what do I see? A filthy spare tire, that is covered in thick brake dust and road grim. Looks like it has 2000 miles on it. I called a spoke with my salesman right away. He said tomorrow morning they would have a brand new tire and wheel for me.

I am really disappointed about this. It is not a huge deal, but what I told the dealer (Ramsey Infiniti, Ramsey NJ) that I want to know how this could have possibly occurred.

Do you guys think I should make a big stink about it? My wife is ready to go full on bitch mode on the GM tomorrow

Otherwise love the car. 36 miles on it now. 3 cds of mp3s in the changer and a baby seat in the back. My 18 month old loves the torque

My guess is that a previous customer had an issue with a regular tire and wanted one asap or else. So the dealership decided to take one out of the trunk of one of the new cars on the lot and yours was the one. Just for the heck of it try and check the tire and see if there is any evidence of a repair or a defect.

Thats very odd; probably someone did a switch on the tire and you got stuck with the one they switched. Some customer may have demanded a new tire on a used g35 to complete a sale and some salesperson switched it off the books.

You absolutely have every right to be upset. I know I would be angry as hell. Like you said, it's not that the tire was dirty because it can easily be replaced, but it's the idea that your car was tampered with and the dealership didn't even have the decency to remedy the situation before the car was purchased. While it's good to see the dealership is getting you a new tire, I think they should throw in something like a free oil change, a gift certificate to the parts department, or anything to compensate you for your time and to regain your respect as their customer.

Also just realized this, the car came with the all-season rubber mats (I did not ask for them) but no carpet mats.

I asked another salesperson and they said the rubber are optional and I should have both...

They also screwed up the lease paperwork (made the payment 9 dollars too low) so the deal is not even final yet. I am starting to think I may return the car.

Also they ordered me Wheat carpet mats as they did not have any in stock.

Maybe the dealer mixed up the spare from a used car the same way as your sedan post got on the coupe forum.
