2005 Brake Pads on 2004 Sedan

Could someone please tell if 2005 front brake pads fit on 2004 AT sedan? I'm approaching 36000 miles and would have to replace myself the front pads (second set) after the factory brakes warranty expires. The parts guy at Infiniti told me they have a different part number for 2005. That's OK, since they apparently change the pad compound resulting much less dust. But another one said they would soon supersede the old 2003-2004 part number. Are they the same or not geometrically?

I just got my pads replaced under warranty just yesterday (20k miles...damn) and I asked if the 2005 parts can be used on my 2003 (rotors and pads). He said there are currently no plans to retrofit the 2005 parts to older models. I can tell he's been asked this before.

I did not ask specifically about the pads, but the rotors are bigger so I imagine the pads cannot be interchanged.

I spoke to Justin @ Everything G35 today about the latest pads for pre-05 models. I have an 03 and needed new (2nd set-first one off warranty) front pads/rotors. He said Infiniti just came out with a new brake compound about a month ago for our quick wearing pads. He said it is still too early to tell if they will hold up better but do seem to have a little less brake dust. Incidentally, I was quoted $550 at the dealer for fr. pads/rotors, $580 at Midas, and Everything G35 got OEM pads/rotors shipped to my house for $220. Midas will install them for $100 for a whopping total of $320. Infiniti dealer was originally quoting me $360 for just replacing front pads!

I considered slotted performance rotors, but it seems I will be going through them rather quickly....

Wait a minute...was the $550 price for pads AND rotors, or just pads? You mentioned $360 just to replace front pads, but you said $550 for pads/rotors.

His post seems clear. $550 was for pads/rotors from dealer. $360 was for just pads at dealer. He is getting OEM pads/rotors from Everything g35 for $220 for parts and paying $100 for install for total of $320.

Man it amazes me the prices these places charge for changing out pads and rotors. The pads can be changed out in 5 minutes per side. You'll spend more time jacking up the car and removing the wheel then installing the pads. The rotors are cake too. Simply remove the caliper and the rotor should slide off. If it's seized to the hub, tap it with a weighted rubber mallet or thread a bolt into the two holes on the rotor that are specifically designed to unseize the rotor. $550-580!!! That's just crazy.

I was planning on doing it myself being that the pads/rotors are a breeze to do on the G, but I got lucky with my local dealer. They replaced all pads and rotors under warranty on my '03 with 38k miles. They quoted me $900 prior to getting them covered This is an insane amount for just rotors and pads.

See the post above. I was thinking it was more like $900+ to do pads+rotors at the dealer. His post was not clear.

RBull, thanks for clarifying. After re-reading my post, I too feel that it was clear, I am not sure why people are having a hard time following it. I will try one more time:

OEM Fr. Brake pads
Dealer=360

OEM Fr. brake pads and rotors quoted estimates:
Dealer=550
Midas=580
Everything G35=220 shipped (does not include labor) + 100 labor at local brake shop= Total of 320
