Another Case of dealer not checking tire psi on a new sedan!
This happens when they have the cars on the lot. They pump the PSI higher than what it needs to be because they let them on the lot... Thats what my dealer told me, but if your car gets from Japan, they ask (if they remember) the service doods to put the PSI to 36.

Eeaton was asking what Bridgestone's maximum recommended inflation pressure for the 18" Turanza is. And while Nissan's recommended tire pressures are stamped on a little decal stuck on the B-pillar, these are typically very conservative, ride-oriented pressures. I generally run a few pounds over these numbers for improved high-speed performance. (Read "a few pounds" as nowhere near 51 psi.)
Just checked my tire pressure for the first time since I bought my sedan a month ago. 44 PSI all the way around. Just ridiculous.
By the way, is there any damage that could've been done to my tires by driving around at such an inflated pressure for 1,000 miles?

Manufacturer recommended tire pressures are not set to optimize tire performance and life but ride quality. IIRC a lot of the tire failures on SUV's several years ago were finally attributed to recommended tire pressures that were so low as to make the seriously overloaded with anything more than a minimum load in the vehicle. Why, to provide a nice soft ride. Overloaded tires are bad news. I generally start with inflation pressures 4 lbs higher than recommended and then adjust front and rear based on wear and handling.

Similarly, if underinflated the outsides wear quicker.

I checked mine today for the first time in 4 mths and the tire pressures were 35-36 .... adjusted to 33.5 on cold tires and the car runs and feels much better -- shud have done earlier but think that the delaler must have inflated it in the recent oil change -- any tire damage would have done
All tires are inflated to max pressure before leaving the factory. This is done for a number of reasons, but the dealer should adjust them down to about 32psi which was done on my car. Scares the hell out of me if the dealer techs missed this. What else did they miss.!!!
