Tire pressure is ok. I reset the navi fuel economy screen every time I fill up. It's been at 12 MPG (or a tiny bit higher) for months now (all city driving)... what can I make the dealer do? What SHOULD they do? This stinks....the car is rated at 17 city. I share the car with my mom...so I know half the time it's not thrashed from light to light...and I dont floor it every light either...so what gives.... my dads Lexus GX470 (4.7 V8) gets 17 mpg average!

I've owned my 05 x for almost 6 months now with a little over 3,000 miles. My avg mpg is 16.5 .Most of the time it's in the 16mpg ball park. Only once did I get 18 mpg because it was mostly highway mileage. The mpg does suck big time. I have no idea how some people get it in the low 20's.

I get 16-17mpg in an 80/20 mix of city/hwy driving in my 04 G35X. When you say you've gotten 12mpg for months does that mean for the life of the car or just in the recent months? I know it's entirely possible to get that kind of mileage without there being something wrong with the car so someone is driving the car hard. What's your Mother's driving record look like? (Please, don't flame, it's a joke!!!) The X is going to suffer in gas mileage, regardless to driving style, because of the added drive train loss and weight. Try babying the car for a tank or two and see if your situation improves. I can almost guarantee you'll see a 3-4 mpg improvement.

I don't have navi, so I rely on my own calculations made from odometer readings and amount of fuel needed to fill up. I am getting consistent 14-16mpg in the city. Unless of course, I decide to "get on it" a little bit. I had an 03 Maxima before this and the mileage was marginally better. However, for how the X performs, I'll deal with the decrease in mpg.

All the long term tests I have seen at least mention the mileage- Though Nissan/Infiniti has seemingly been given the pass on this one as the performance makes it worth it.

EPA CITY TEST is a rural city with just a few red lights, little stopped idling, no AC, and very very very slow acceleration to 37 mph. Most REAL CITY MPG is 2-2.5 MPG lower than sticker [for all cars] with AC and normal keep up with traffic acceleration.
Same with EPA Highway no speeds above 61 mph no AC.
