ROCK CHIPS! Is it me, the G, or just life?
I did a search on rock chips and didn't find a specific thread.
I would like to know if you guys (& gals) are getting ALOT of rock chips?
I spent 8 hours this saturday doing the Zaino thing (unbelievable stuff!) So I knew every rock chip on the car well. Sunday no driving. Monday to work and back 44 miles total. I did not hear or see anything usual hit me.
This a.m. (Tues) I was admiring my Zaino job in the parking garage and I see 6 to 10 NEW rock chips! Unbelievable!
At lunch I did drive thru some "shower" of something I heard over the radio. Back in the garage, MORE chips.
Please tell me, I am having the worst luck, is the G's aero design prone to this, or is this just life?
Yes, I should have bought the Invisible Bra / Clear Guard but nobody in Cincinnati offers it.
Thanks in advance for your comments

Rock chips and paint problems are a well documented complaint with the G. It has been discussed over and over and over again. Some attribute it to driving style, most attribute it to delicate paint, but it seems no matter the cause none of us are immune.
For me, 2300 miles and I have 2 that are really visible. I have more that are pin sized that you can only see when you polish the car. They are a disappointment, but as one member put it, they are the scars of battle from our highways LOL.
I thought of a clear bra, but with my luck the dings would move north onto my hood. If I covered the hood, they'd take out my windsheild and the metal above it. If I covered that, they'd fly up from the sides and take out the doors. I try to avoid debris and live with the consequences of my decision.
You can't win. Wax them, say a prayer, get in, and DRIVE!

Hate to break the news to you, but Infiniti/Nissan cars are not the only cars "prone" to chipping. I've seen Lexus, BMW, and MB cars with tons of chips. It's kinda hard to prevent with todays paints. Add that to the wonderful job our DOTs use when they are dumping salt on the roads in the snowy months. So far, I've been lucky. However, I do give myself a "buffer zone" between me and the car in front. I also try not to follow semis or other large trucks. Those things can be lethal. I thought about a clear bra, but haven't decided on it yet.

all cars in this category will chip easily. My TL's paint could be power washed off the car. The paint process is different on newer cars and is meant to save the environment and cost less. So... you get what you get.
And yes cars will always get chips. I have one on my hood after 7000 miles above the clear bra which works very well!!!

Thank you one and all for taking the time to respond. Misery may love company, but not me. I am sorry to hear that this is a common problem.
I know road damage is part of the "price of admission" for a daily driver. However after 5 years and 50K on my former car (1996 SHO), I had just slightly more rock chips than I already have with my 2 month old, 2,100 mile G35. PLUS, my SHO was silver and showed black spots where rock chips happened, making them way more obvious than the chips on my black G.
Anyway, I'll just try not to think about it and take the available precautions of not tailgating semi's and other hazardous vehicles.
Thanks again everyone.

My clear bra was not holding up well (Motorwerks installed in January) and I had it removed after 5 months of service. Once the bra was removed, dozens upon dozens of chips were discovered. The bra is not as effective as most are led to believe. The bra is only guaranteed at speeds less than 55 or 65.

Some do not have necessary mil thickness.
I had 3M on another car & when I turned it in the paint was like new underneath.
The only issue that I had was yellowing (film not the paint) from the UV, but
that has improved greatly with the current product.
