Dude, that's a bit of a better deal I got on my 05 6MT. Others might suggest lowering the offer, but I'd take it.

I don't know about those extras in particular, but a "special wax" is probably not worth much.

But here you are with an offer that is $200 less than you were originally thinking the car was worth, or than what you were willing to pay, so shouldn't you buy it? (As long as it is not that demo (as in demolition) car!)

Well, maybe I could just ask her to throw in some all-season weather mats. Probably means nothing to her and would make me feel all the better.

On another note, I'm assuming that I should request a testdrive of the car she is quoting me specifically to be sure everything is what I expect it to be. Then finalize the deal. Does that sound like a good idea?

You can ask for the mats (the Infiniti rubber mats sell for about $70-$80 dollars), but I don't know where the line is on these things. I do feel that you want her to come out of this feeling as if she hasn't been taken advantage of either (my flame suit is at the ready) because you will be dealing with her and the dealer in the future, and maybe you want to send a friend to her to get a good deal, or your next car may be another Infiniti, etc. Most Infiniti dealers function at a better level than non-luxury car dealers.

I think my good relations with my dealership for three Infinitis since 1991 has helped me get better attention than if I were just some guy out to scrape the last nickel out of the deal. Most recently, I got a new tire (about $225 worth of rubber-I'm not used to those kind of tires) at no cost for the G that I would not have gotten without a good relationship with them. See other threads for things like this that have happened to me. Aren't you glad I'm spending your money? But really, that is how I spend mine.

My experience is that usually you don't get to drive the car you are buying, but you should test drive one that is equipped substantially the same. I'd recommend seeeing the color in person on the same model (ie don't assume the color you like on the coupe, or an M45, will look the same on the G sedan).

Enjoy the car!!

Andy77, thanks for the advice.

I called the saleslady this morning and left a voicemail (she is out today) asking for the floor mats and to reduce the price $95 down to 33,100. I hope that wasn't too extreme. I know that she'll check her voicemail sometime today, because she had mentioned that yesterday. So, hopefully she'll let me know what she thought about that today. I basicly told her that I wan't trying to nickel and dime her, but I had a specific number in mind going in and that these two changes would put things in line with that. Plus, I said that if she agreed with those items, then it would be a done deal.

Truthfully, this is my first time negotiating. It's not my first purchase, but it is my first time negotiating (well at least trying to). I hope I didn't overstep some boundaries.

I think you're fine - odds are they will throw in the mats and definitely take $95 off the top. We did the same thing, we were given an OTD price of 39,290 CAD and asked for splashguards and the $290 to disappear and they were totally cool with it. Our salesperson was fantastic, everyone was happy. Good luck, and (dare I say it?) enjoy your new G!

the tsx is a sweet car, if you are one that likes to mod that car can be made quite fast. but if u are looking at for stock power and handling i dont see how anything else there competes with the g35. though i might take the TL in a an area where it snows, too bad they arent rwd or awd. If you wait a while lexus is gonna make a new 300+hp IS300 with awd i think

Only the IS250 will come in AWD, not the IS350.

Well, she accepted my terms (drop price to 33,100 and throw in the all-season floor mats). I somewhat wish I would've asked her to drop to 33k even. Oh well, either way I think I'm getting a good price. They are overnighting all of the additions that they don't have in stock so the car can be ready for me tomorrow.

One caveat that raised my concern. The car has 120 miles on it . I spoke with her about it and mentioned the "spirited" test drive I had been on in another car. She explained to me that those kinds of test drives have been acknowledged and are not suppose to be allowed. However, she did say that the car had been on an extended test drive with her and the dealership owner had taken it home one night too. I don't know. I don't think it's that big of deal. My current car was purchased with 143 miles on it and I never had one single mechanical problem with it. After she heard the concern in my voice, she asked me to just come and give it a test drive tonight to make sure everything is cool. Plus, they are going to "evaluate" my trade during that time.

Guess what I'll be using as leverage to make sure I get what I want on the trade-in value.....

I'll put a summary post up tomorrow after the deal is closed to let you all know how it played out.

get the g35 awd

well if you are concerned bout all wheel drive.. get the awd version. Id rather have that all around compared to the others. I am in the same process of trying to find the best deal right now.

gq1213, not sure if you are suggesting awd to me, but I already purchased my G last Friday

Here is what I ended up getting:
