DDRGirle, can you post some more pics of those chrome rims? Closeups, sideshots, etc... I need to see them from different angles.

You know, my dealer had an '05 5AT sedan with the Sport Package sitting on the lot next to two 6MT sedans. I remember looking at the wheels on the 5AT and thinking, "Man, those are really shiny compared to the 6MTs' wheels."

Well, duh. They'd chromed 'em. And added on $2200 to do so. To paraphrase Mr. T, I pity the fool who antes up for that one.

Looks excellent Tom. Great colour, accented nicely by the tint and pinstripe.

Kudos......

2 Weeks since I got my G

I have had my new 2005 LS 5AT for 2 weeks. I absolutely love it. Got the Premium Package up to C. It is just a phenomenal car! I am thinking of tinting the windows and getting clear bra. I've read the threads about the clear bra, but am wondering what people think about the tint. Gsedanman, what % did you have done? How much did it set you back. I was quoted $250 by a place up here in Viking country. Suggestions?

Also, gotta love being on the road and pulling up next to dudes in their Audi A4 3.0's. . . . it's so fun just watching them look longingly at my beautiful G. . . . anyone else agree??

Mpls Marauder, congrats on the new ride. Another L.S.- wow, that's a very popular colour now.

I've not got any tint on my M, other than the slight tint from the factory. In any case, our pricing, packages, and dealers up here in Canada vary so much from yours.
I'm sure there are many peeps around there who will share their experience. A very popular mod.
Welcome, BTW, and enjoy your new ride.

C.

Thanks Gsedanman. I looked at your post prior to mine and thought the picture was of yours. As I look closer, I see it is ABQ's. I've seen a couple M's on the streets of Minneapolis. Nice ride!

Ooh, very nice. Thanks for the pics. If I squint really hard, I can sorta make out the outline of your head in the last pic.

Yeah, I noticed those. Seems like you got it fully loaded, and then some. Are you getting a clear bra? Wouldn't wanna get any chips on it!

Thanks Colin, I am really happy with that! I do have to run it back by the tint shop though to have him check my nose mask (that's what they call it, LOL), it has a couple of minor imperfections, they told me to wait a week or so, but I am going to price having the whole bumper done. I'm not sure what any of that cost, since the dealer didn't charge me for the tint, mask and pinstripe.

The ugly ones are the regular bras. The clear bras are actually pretty much invisible (except if you're within 2-3 feet from the car) and they're stuck to the surface, so water won't be able to get inside. You just leave it on when washing and waxing the car, as if it wasn't even there. A lot of people have it on their G's. Here's a link to how it works along with a gallery showing the clear bra on some cars/trucks:

Check out the one of the Audi (it's black so it'll give you an idea).

Wow you cant even see it, and wat is it supposed to do? And when it starts to come off does it peel off the paint? And is it worth the money?

Basically, it's supposed to protect the front of the car from rocks and other debris on the highway (especially since the G has very thin paint) and prevent chipping. When you get it replaced every 6 years or so, all they do is peel it off and reapply it. It will not peel off the paint. From what I've heard, it works wonders. I'm probably getting one for my G.
