Is there an easy way to get the cigarette lighter drawer out?

I put money in the ash tray in the cigarette lighter drawer of my 05 G35 sedan. Now a quarter has fallen out of the tray and logged itself under the cigarette lighter drawer. Is there any way to remove the whole cigarette lighter drawer? I don’t mean just the little ash tray. I need to get behind the center console. Is this something I should just let Infiniti handle. I know, I know, I shouldn’t have put the change in there in the first place but it is just so dang convenient.

LOL. It's 'enhanced' for your viewing pleasure. I'm sure I could google up a smaller one..

Great that helps. Seriously has anyone taken out the cigarette drawer/holder or gotten behind the center console?

Sorry guy - we were having a little fun at your expense and I apologize. Slow day at work.

No, I haven't taken mine out aside from the little drawer, but there are guys here who have gutted their cars while putting in new stereo/video equipment - perhaps one of those folks can guide you.

Did you post in the modifications audio/video forum for a dash/console disassembly how-to?

The rear ash tray (the one behind the arm rest for the back seat) broke on my car. The dealer had to remove the console to install the new ash tray. It doesn't just pop back in like most cars. I'm guessing it is the same for the front ash tray. You might just have to remove the whole console to get your money! I lost a quarter too. It is still there....I hope.

No problem. That was actually kinda funny. I am just mad that I got the quarter stuck in there because now you can not open the front ash tray. I guess I will remember to put the money in the center arm rest where it was designed to go from now on. Oh well you live and you learn. I tried to shake it out by taking some high speed corners. Didn’t work. I think I need to get it up on two wheels to get it out. Might try that tonight. Gotta be careful not to roll it though. Just Kidding!

Try tapping the ash tray door a few times. That has worked for me. The money holder in the center arm rest doesn't work very well for me. I use the ash tray too!

Try getting airborne over a railroad crossing - that always works for me. Be careful though, my buddy was trying to get a pen out from under his seat using this technique and.....

If you have a 2005+ 6mt, it is quite easy. Put the shifter in 4th, push your fingers into the shift boot, hook them in the direction of the armrest, and pull up. This will pop out the entire section containing the shift-boot and ashtray. I have heard it is much more difficult for previous models, and would be different for automatics.
