Question G35x vs. A4 2.0T Quattro

Has anybody driven one of the new A4 2.0T's? I know the G will be quicker but I can't get an AWD 6MT. The A4 has a 4CYL but the turbo does 0-60 in 7 seconds -- not too pokey. It has a nice 6MT and gets 22-31 mpg. I'll be driving both very soon and will report my findings. Thanks in advance for your opinions.

Audi's ride nice and the gas mileage is going to be much, much better, but reliability...

Interior is awesome. I like the exterior styling. Reliability is questionable and I'm not a fan of their 4 cylinder engines.

I looked at an 05 when I was shopping the G and the ONLY thing I liked better was the interior, especially when I got to the optioned-up price on the Audi. The little 2.0 can get pretty expensive - the one I looked at was over $35K.

Not a bad price, but a little much when you consider the performance. My .02.

if u mod the 2.0t it is a bunch of fun

but honestly minus the interior there is no reason to go to the audi, its a softy while the G35 is a little more aggressive

I need AWD and want a 6MT. If the x had a 6MT it would be a no brainer. I can get both for about the same price.

3.2 quattro

haven't driven the 2.0t but i love to drive my sisters a4 avant 3.0Q. Very comfy but kinda boring.

Why don't you wait for the 6 speed 3.2q they are supposed to be comming out within the next 6 months or so.

Also lease an Audi don't buy, you will be stuck with very expensive repair bills.

I tested several new A4 with 2.0 turbo. Pick up is very good, liveely engine at all RPM; handling and maneuverability pretty good. The manual has some torque steer. I was amazed by the multitronic 7 speeed; shifts are quick and smooth and gives good pickup at all speeds.Front instrumentation is very appealing; back seat is a bit tight. Gas mileage is very good. This is a good selling point.
I still think the G is a better car

I test drove the 1.8T before and hated it. Very slow and hated the turbo lag. The new 2.0 is supposed be better. The new exterior design is ok ( previous one was better) but HATE the interior design. To me, it looks like a typical nasty german interior that was designed in 80's or something. They might use a high quality materials but such a waste to be used in that interior. Mercedes did a good job getting out of the typical german interior styling with some recent models. By the way, my client's brand new A4 completely broke down in 2 months, but got it fixed after few weeks.
As far as the inteior goes, I loke modern contemporary so M45 and RL definitely is the best in styling for me.

I Love The Exterior Look Of The A4. Looks More Executive Than Our G's. But I Love Me A Fast Lookin Japanese Rocket Too! One Is Trying To Say "im Better Than You" , The Other Is Trying To Say"im Faster Than You". Love The A4's Interior Too. But Its Just A Dolled Up Passat Underneath It All. Very Boring. I Like My Rides To Be Untamable!

Don't they plow the roads in Minn? I have a 03.5 non AWD in Boston (for some reason I think your colder but we get more snow) and I have had no problem driving in the snow at all.

Occasionally!

I've lost interest in the A4 2.0T -- not enough bang for the buck. The X gives 40% more horsepower, 34% more torque, 50% more cylinders, bigger interior, better resale, better financing, better discount and better reliability. The A4 gives a 6MT and better gas mileage. Paying $34.3k for a 200hp 4-banger is just wrong.

So true. I hate doing this, but if you absolutely postively must have an AWD MT, have you driven the Subaru Legacy yet? Doesn't have the status of the entry level luxury set, but I hear once you drive it, you won't care about any of that ...

Of course, we'd all rather see you get the G!

With quattro it should not have torque steer.

I test drove the S4 before getting my 05 G35x, and was this close to getting one but the lousy reliability of the Audi put me off. Also be aware that quattro is 25% to each wheel under most driving conditions, almost Subaru-like in the feel, ie very AWD. Personally I think the ATTESA system is lots better and there are a number of objective reviews that back that opinion up.
