Can someone explain the rev match feature?

I've already done a search for this. How does it work and what is the benefit? Was this a new feature on the 2005 or is it on all G35s?

Thanks,

Mark

The rev-matching is done by the computer to match the engine revs with road speed when gearing down manually in you 5 A/T
Cuts down on lurch and drive train stress.

Yeah, this is a new feature for 05. I have a 05 coupe right now and gave my 03 sedan to my wife that had no rev matching. MAN, so much different and so much better. It doesn't change the shift speed but when you downshift, the computer automatically revs the engine to higher RPM during the actual gear change to compensate for the difference. By doing so, the hard donwshifting is much more smoother and you dont' get that "shock" of hard downshifting.

Same concept as heel-toe braking on manual transmission.

Yes the rev matching is a really cool new feature for 05. My 04 loaner Sedan didn't have it and it seemed much more clumsy when downshifting.

Does anyone now if the 04.5 AT has the rev match? I read elsewhere that one of the mid-year changes was the transmission control upgrade to the 05 model but don't know if it included the rev match.

Can a 03.5 be upgraded by changing computers or do other parts than that need to be swapped?
