Why I love my G more than my old BMW!

Btw Nick- Mercedes Over Bmw??? Mercs Are For Girls- Image First-performance Last. Compare Any Bmw Model To Its Corresponding Mercedes Model- Bmw Spanks It Outright.
The C55 AMG vs the M3 run about the same 1/4 mile time which is a low 13 seconds. If you want to compare the C230 vs the 325, yes the bimmer is a bit faster, however comparing the best for the best, Mercedes will always have a faster car than BMW.
The M5 is not out yet, so the E55 can still spank the rest of the BMW line without even trying.
Mercedes still has plenty of faster cars, SL 55/600/65, CL 55/600/65 and S 55/600/65. The CL65 is probably one of the most wicked production cars on the road right now, yes its a little more expensive then a BMW, but if I could spend 130k on a Z8, I would just cough up the extra dough for the CL65 and poop on the BMW all day.
So if it was performance I wanted and I was going to spend money, I would definatley take mercedes. I am not much for image, if Honda or Toyota made a RWD family sedan that was similar in speed/power and had a 6 speed tranny, I would have bought that over my Rattle Box, I mean Infiniti.

I have a '95 M3 I've had for 5 years. We just purchased an '03 G35 sport sedan. These two cars are apples and oranges. They can't even be compared. The M is a true sports car and much more refined and nimble than the heavy G35. As far as handling and performance, the M3 wins hands down. But if you would like to combine performance with practical use....then the G35 wins. Ever tried to drive an M3 in the winter? I tried it once......but I got stuck in my driveway.

As for Mercedes vs BMW. Look at the numbers on the new C350 as compared to the 330i. Not bad..
My bias against BMW would likely have me buying a Mercedes if those were the only two players in the category I was shopping in - such as the hyper-luxury-sedan segment. I'd go AMG over M.
I love the AMG Mercedes cars - always have, always will.

I know exactly what a 330 ZHP is, as well as what other BMWs are. Don't think my lack of appreciation for the brand is based in ignorance. Quite the contrary. I'm on a Navy base filled with a couple of THOUSAND military flight students who all think they're Tom Cruise. The base is crawling with BMWs. I've driven them all - 540 Dinans, M3s, 740s, etc. I don't see what all the hoopla is about. They are all very nice, very overpriced cars.
Again, if you gave me one I'd sell it and buy something I appreciate.
'Understanding what a BMW is' has nothing to do with it. I understand 'what they are' and I'm not so impressed that they would be on my short list. When I bought my G I could have easily afforded a smattering of different BMWs. No thank you very much.
