Anyone say "no thanks" to the dealer wash?

Just picked up my car after the 3750 service. I washed it just a couple days ago so it was still very clean. When I went to get in the car I could tell they washed it since there were several areas where they did a crappy job drying it and there were some water spots. I saw the dealer closing the wash bay and it looks like they use a large wand brush and now I'm wondering if I should tell them to skip the wash. My car is Black and I am doing my best to avoid any scratches by using seperate wash buckets and two wash mitts. Is one wash every few months going cause damage or should I just enjoy the perk (would be nice in the colder months).

I never let them do. Not wiht this car or with my Lincoln LS or 3.5 SE Altima. Nope no thank you but thanks for the offer. Especially with black paint... man swirls develop and show i black too easily.

The only thing that is worse is having unprotected BLEEP :O

My G, will never get a wash by the dealer. Regardless of whether the car needs it or not, I just pass on the wash. I had a convertible Bimmer, prior to my G, and had it in for servicing. Some idiot scratched up the rear window. Since then, I just say, "No, thank you."

I can only guess that if your was quite dirty, that they would not take the proper measures in rinsing the car properly. Thus, they would only add swirl marks to your car.

They won't take the care to wash your car, as you would.

Last time I took my car in for service, I explicitly told them not to wash the car and not to touch the Nismo rims.

Had an oil change and the head unit checked out (again, will be replaced Friday - 3rd unit = bull****) and I requested no wash. They happily obliged.

I always tell them to skip the wash too, however, I had my car in last week for a few things, and again told them to skip the wash, but somehow, it got washed anyway, but it wasn't bad at all this time, perhaps they got a new person on the wash detail.

Now see, I don't get why it took BMW so long to go to a glass window in the vert models, those plastic windows got ugly real fast! Sorry for the Off Topic!

No way. I made them put a note in my file, no wash. I'm not even kidding, which is sort of sad, but whatever.

I mean, look at this. I don't need their freakin' swirls!

I've been to the dealer twice since getting my G ... and both times the SA asked "wash or not?" ... so maybe they're getting the word that some of us don't want to risk it by letting them wash your car.

I thought it was nice of him to ask!

I even put a post-it on my steering wheel that says:

Put down that wash mitt and go smoke a joint. I'll wash it myself. Thanks.
