At Least One Unhappy G35 Hit by Katrina

I feel really bad for the folks in the Gulf Coast that have been hammered by Hurricane Katrina. This picture really brought it home to me. How lucky I've been to avoid such a terrible disaster. Hope you folks are getting along okay and you and your loved ones are safe.

From the looks of the total picture, I think the owner of that particular G has bigger problems.

Things are a mess out there!!! Agreed - cars (or lack of them) are the LAST thing on many minds in the region... Local American Red Cross is doing volunteer training tomorrow... I will be registering today and probably leaving this weekend to go help however I can.

I just read that the mayor of New Orleans is predicting thousands killed, geez, with the advance warnings of a hurricane, how could this happen? It's not like it just came out of nowhere like the tsunami did.

Ignorance and poverty. It's sad but they're are a lot of people that couldn't or didn't know better than to get out of the way.

talking about it isn't going to help much, every1 that cares should go to the nearest American Red Cross and donate a pint of your blood.

That's a great idea. I'm a regular donor here in Seattle. I looked online and as of Monday the Puget Sound Blood Center hadn't received request for blood from the affected regions.

I quote, "A great attribute of the Northwest is a community of people ready to join together to help in an emergency. We are receiving calls regarding donating blood to help those in areas affected by Hurricane Katrina. At this time we have not received any requests for blood from that area. If we receive requests for blood, we have the ability to respond quickly to assist those in need. We will update this information should we need to increase donations in order to help."

Labor Day weekend is a time when donations are typically low. Everyone who is capable of donating can help out their communities with a donation now.

That's a great idea, and a particular bone of contention for me, as it was shortly after 9/11. As a British Citizen, my blood isn't welcome in your country. I may have BSE / Mad cow disease, according to the red cross.

Now you tell me, if you were on the side of the road dying and in desperate need of blood, and I drove by and said "Hey there! Want some of my o-neg (universal donor) blood? I was in the UK at some point in my life and they have BSE there!" what would your answer be?

Then they have blood drives here at work where everyone participating gets a t-shirt and a chance at a drawing to win a vacation or something.

Kind of pisses me off.

vent over.

That's the best suggestion I've seen here! I wish I could donate blood, but I take a couple of meds, they told me they don't want mine! I'll just give some money!
