How can you tell? (Options, years, etc)

Hey Folks -

Did some searching on this and came up fairly empty handed.

Are there subtle/noticeable clues as to what options/goodies, year, etc our G35's may have? I just bought a 2004 G35X - originally sold in Jan '05. My hunch is that its a 2004.5 (is there one?) and how would I know if it was?

Thanks!

You can look at the production date of your car to tell. I don't know exactly where to look but I know that DaveO told Trey how to check our cars. The only thing I know of as a difference for an '04.5 is something to do with the computer. Yeh, I don't know **** about this one other than HOW to know but not the important parts.

Help me out here people!

For the sedans, based on my observations:

2003 G35s have a small Infiniti Logo on the trunk. All the letters are bunched to together. 2004+ have the letters spaced out

2003-04 Have LED tail lights in linear pattern 2005+ have tail light LEDs in circular pattern

2005 Has different front chin (air damn?) Kind of a honeycomb pattern. 2003-4 is more open

2005 Shift lever in Autos has a boot similar to the boot on the Manuals. The shift gate in the 2003-4 has no boot. (the 2005 Looks a LOT calssier IMO.

2005s have no Tape deck, but added MP3 Cacability. 2003-4 BOSE and regular had CD and Tape deck.

Wheels (for Both Sport and Regular) were changed for 2005.

2003-4 Sport WHeels are 17" 5 Spoke
2005 Sport wheels are 18" dual spoke (10 total)

2003-4 Regualr wheels are 17" 6 Spoke
2005 regulare wheels are 7 spoke

That's all I can come up with off the top of my head.

I think the later production 2004s, which are the 2004.5s, have a different style auto transmission shift ****. The earlier 2004s matched the 2003 with the shift release button on the driver's side. The 2004.5 has the shift release ****/trigger in the front.

The 2004.5s also have the rev matching auto-stick program, I think.

The 2005s no longer have the black border along the bottom of the bumpers, sides etc. Also the back bumper has fewer creases and the hood is also different.

i just wanted to add in that the 2003 had the bunched letters/doggy door for only 6 months then changed for 2003.5 to be spaced out like 04 and 05s.

To tell the difference between 03-03.5 and 04-04.5 is hard because they were mostly drivetrain and internal changes. The only way you can really tell is to look on the inside of the driver door at your info sticker and it will tell you the month and year.

Perfect guys! Looks like I have an 04.5! It was originally purchased in Jan '05, leading me to believe it was a VERY late production 04. I also have noticed the rev-matching shift, very nice! This car is DA BOMB compared to my Max (fewer gadgets, however). No trip computer, no heated steering wheel

Yes I owned an 2002 Maxima before I brought my G35 one of the reasons I waited for the 2005 G35 was because Infiniti did not offer a lot of the features that my 2002 Maxima had as standard they were all more expensive options over the 2002. The heated steering wheel was nice but I don't think they offer that on any nissan/infiniti anymore.

also, while the car is in motion, if you're trying to figure out whether g35's have the premium package, you can check out their interior review mirror. all premium package cars have the auto dimming mirror.

i think i'm the only one that checks for this...

So what date would be the cutoff for a 2004.5 vs. 2004? My car was mfg in 07/04 - my guess is that it qualifies it for a 2004.5 (since it also has the shift trigger in the front of the ****).
