Does IFS bill you for your local Property Taxes?

Does IFS bill you for your local Property Taxes?

I saw an extra $200+ charge on my lease bill this month. It said that it was for “property taxes”. Is that correct? Does IFS bill you for the property taxes because they actually own the car and you are just renting it from them? Will my local county double bill me for the Taxes also? Just wondering if this is normal? I know I have to pay the taxes I just want to make sure I pay them to the right place.

That whole double-billed tax concept was explained in GREAT detail to me at the time I was buying my car, by the finance guy. I had to sign some paperwork stating that I understood it all and stuff.

I summarily forgot it all when I walked out of the door

Sorry, no help here

IFS has nothing to do with your property tax. Like you stated your local revenue dept will handle that as you try to renew your registration. The onlt thing that will be included in your bill at time of sale is your sales taxes. If you got some other BS charges you may want to look into that.

Yes some states do it if you claim that state as your residence. It is like close to $500 for the state of SC, but for me being in the military and claiming NY as my home of record (proven to rev dept by paystub) I only pay the road hazard fee and actual registration fee which totals to about $15. Now if I ever try to register my car in NY I will have to pay whatever ridiculous rate it is up there.

Ok some of the comments are confusing me now. I am leasing this car so who should bill me for the property tax? IFS or Wake County? I would assume that a purchased or financed car is different from a lease because I am not actually buying the car I am renting it. I would think that IFS is getting billed the property Tax and then passing it on to me. Is this not correct?

Wake county. Does you car already have tags? If not you will have to pay the property taxes when you apply for tags.

Inifinti should have sent you a letter stating they paid your car tax for you and that they will add that amount to your lease bill for the next cycle. When you pay for the full amount, they will send you your county sticker.

I have the tags already and I haven't paid any property taxes yet. I have had the car for like 4 months. Does this mean that IFS paid them and it sending the bill to me now?

Can you elaborate on that a little more? What do you mean full amount? Do you mean when I pay off the lease off or when I pay the taxes? I already have my license plate, inspection sticker, registration card, and the wake county registration sticker for the license plate. Was I supposed to pay the taxes before I got those things?

Glad I live in NM then, all that is taken care of with vehicle registration here, unless you are able to get a free registration, like I do, Disabled Vet Plate, plus in my situation, I don't have to pay the excise tax on vehicle purchase.

I live in NC also, Nash County. I used to lease a Passat through Volkwagen of America. VoA paid the NC property tax and billed me for it through my normal monthly statement (a one time charge one month out of the year).

You have to make the payment to Infiniti, since they own the car and they have to pay NC.

Thank you very much. That is what I thought. Although the Infiniti dealership told me otherwise when I leased it. They said that the property taxes were all done by the govt. and that they had nothing to do with them.
