Dude, you can't compare that 170 crank hp to the g's 260ish crank hp. It's not all about hp. The g is 3500lbs. What was the integra, somewhere around 2600? That weight just kills you...

And it's also not fair to compare everyone's times... Conditions differ at each event.

For bracket racing/consistency I would agree. For lowest times, I would shift in MM mode. For me, it is worth a FULL TENTH in the 1/4 mile.

14.3 shouldn't be too hard. I ran a 14.50 with only a z-tube and a K&N filter. The new mods should put me there.

Interesting. I'll have to try it myself. Every other car I've raced did better letting the computer shift..........

ChicagoX,

You ran a 14.5 with just a Z-Tube & K&N filter? Did you happen to run your car before the tube/filter? If so, I'm curious to know what you ran before?

I thought my car was supposed to have 10 more HP than 04? Maybe I'm confused?

Anyway -- do you really think the sub and my full-size spare coulda slowed me down that much?

Also, what about getting a 1/4" (5/16" to be exact) plenum spacer -- do you think that actually helps?

Power to weight my friend. A G35X's performance is really close to that of the GSR. On paper, the X should be about .2-.3 seconds quicker (14.8 vs 15.1), but the trap speeds are about identical (~93-94mph). The G feels a lot faster because there isn't much waiting around for the power.

Other things to consider here are track conditions. I don't know much about Infineon Raceway, but I'd bet it's at a decent elevation. He also didn't state the weather conditions. Elevation and weather conditions (ie density altitude) play a huge roll in the way a car performs. Conditions alone can mean .5 and 3mph difference at the same track.

I don't know about the G35X, but I do know manually shifting the 2-3 with the RWD G's does improve times and trap speed. If you let the tranny do it's own thing, it will shift the 2-3 at 89mph which is way too early. I hold 3rd through the end and usually tap the limiter (~100mph) 50 feet or so past the finish line.

The X has deeper gearing so a shift into 4th may be required.

You meant the 3-4, right?

Attached Time Slips below -- My best run had the worst 60' -- my reaction times were terrible. Note the temperature on last / best run.

Your R/T's were not all that bad (and they don't affect ET @ test & tunes). You do know a perfect R/T is .500, right?

Actually -- I didn't know a.500 was considered a pefect R/T.

I'll be happy when I get consistant .300 R/T's.

I think that it's very wierd that my best run was with my worst 60'.
That was the only launch of the night that my rear tires spun through first gear.

My AWD Sedan never spins like they did on that launch.

That is odd about your best run being your worst 60'. It usually doesn't work that way. Now, it is very common to get your best trap speed with a lousy, spinning 60'.........

In competition, .500 is a perfect R/T, unless you're running Pro-tree format, in which case it is .400. Anything under .500 or .400 (depending on format) is a red light and disqualification. Some tracks set up their T&T's for a .000 R/T (which could have been the case when you raced), but if you're looking to compete, don't get good at .300's.

You could compete.....the "X" cars make monster bracket racers....just leave in "D" (consistency wins bracket races)

To answer your Q, I was running around a 14.7 before the z-tube + K&N, shifting in MM mode.

The fact that your car did best while spinning tells me that these cars REALLY need a torque converter.
