Brakes to sensitive ?

I did a search and have found some information on the brake dust that everybody is having however I couldn't find anything on how sensitive these damn things are. I only have 1500 miles on it thus far, does it get better? Sometimes I feel like I barely hit the brakes and it feels like I'm mashing on them. Anybody else have this problem or a fix? Thanks

Re: Brakes to sensitive ?

I feel the same way. My car has 3200 miles on it, and the brakes still feel pretty grabby to me. When traveling at a decent speed it's not really a problem, but when moving slower coming to a totally smooth stop can be difficult because the brakes are so touchy.

The only thing that I've heard of people doing to improve this is getting aftermarket pad to replace the OEM ones. The Hawk and EBC Greenstuff pads seem are supposed to be pretty good, and both put off less dust than the OEM from what I'v heard.

they wear down and the grabbiness improves...trust me when i say that that grab comes in handy at speed

Re: Brakes to sensitive ?

It is just a matter of acclimatization. The first couple of times I applied the brakes on my G they grabbed, since then there has been no problem. This is just like clutches, some engage near the beginning of travel, others engage near the end of travel. What I most appreciate about my G is the lack of "play". There is no play in the steering, suspension, and brakes.

Yeah, but the big difference between the brakes and clutch are that you can adjust the clutch to your liking. They could have given us the same braking without the initial "grab" Interestingly enough I just looked up braking stats to find that my heavy *** g35 brakes better than my s2000! I can't believe it but thats what I found.

You might expect your braking performance to lessen as well...but who knows - please let us know!

I have 3100 miles on mine and I feel the same way...super grabby at slow speeds, but man do they stop. I figure I'll have to get used to it

You do get accustomed to the grabbiness... your foot learns eventually.

Re: Brakes to sensitive ?

Yes, you can adjust cable actuated clutches. However, our more recent manual tranny cars had hydraulically actuated clutches so I had no opportunity to adjust them.

Re: Brakes to sensitive ?

My brakes seemed to become grabbier after I did some hard driving/braking for a couple days (they worked great for threshold braking from 115 MPH to 40MPH); I have 4800 miles on the car now. I'm taking it in for a brake check this week to make sure there's not too much brake pad wear.

Re: Brakes to sensitive ?

you'll break it in eventually.. (no pun intented) either it gets use to your braking patterns or you get accustomed to the brakes and change your own pressure application.. or maybe a combo of both.. i don't even think or notice it that much anymore.. unless i'm driving a different car..
