I would bring it back to the dealer because thats something they were supposed to do. When i had mine done they disabled it.

I had the same situation with my '05 coupe. I removed my 3rd brake light assembly and simply covered the mounting holes for the said. Looking from the outside, you can hardly see what I did.

Just push the 3rd brake light forward gently and lift the assembly straight up . . . Disconnect the small wire harness, if it wasn't already disconnected. Voila, you are done!

I have a graphite colored interior, so it might have been easier for me to camouflage the 3rd brake light opening(s). I got a piece of 16 gage anodized aluminum and cut it to fit between the 2 rear speakers and between the rear seats and the rear windshield. I then rounded the 4 corners and deburred all of the edges. I went to a local fabric store and purchased a small piece of cloth which matched the color of my G's rear shelf. I wrapped the cloth over the piece of aluminum and glued the undersides. . . Done!

Yikes! I went through all of that for nothing? I guess I read wrong.

I guess mafiazz could go back to the dealer . . . But it only takes 60 seconds to remove the 3rd brake light, disconnect the small wire harness and replace the same. Why go to the trouble of going back to the dealer.

There's a connector clip in the trunk lid (for the rear deck light) that was supposed to be disconnected and re-connected to the spoiler light, in the 04's, because of amperage concerns (wiring gage) and redundancy. I thought that they didn't change it?04' G35X, Brilliant Silver,"Padded" (Metal Matrix) by Stillen" "Full 'X' Cat-Back" by Stillen, "Aloomie Pedals" by Inf., "Popped" by Wolf, "Pullied" by UR,"Tubed" by Z,"D-Badged" by me, "Clear Cornered" by JDM, 05' "Tails" by Inf., "Tall Boy Plenum" by APS, well "Grounded" by Gordgee., 35% Silver Reflective tint.

In some areas it's not legal to have 2 HMSL

If I remember correctly, the clip is under the rear deck. Just stick your head in the trunk and look up under the rear shelf (beneath the back windshield) and you will see a clip. Simply detach and tape to the underside of the shelf. It might rattle if you don't secure the loose clip.

I'd hate to be too safe and get a ticket for being cautious.

+1... I installed the spoiler myself. Underneath the trunklight there will be the trunk cover trim. Take out the pop-its and just pull it down. There you should see a wire clipped together with another wire. One leads to the brakelight. Disconnect it and thats it.
