yes it does recalibrate the throttle on acceleration as well as keep the power 50/50 up to 18mph.... and of course at any speed it will have the sensors a little more sensitive

 

By the weather forecast it looks like we will get to play in the snow quite a bit over the next few days and use the snow mode if desired .

 

New G35x owner and new to forum. Trying to get as much info on the snow mode and saw this thread. Different opinions (12, 15, 19, 25 mph) about what speed the snow mode kicks off. The Owners Manual doesn't even mention it. Only thing I found on '04 models is: "Another unique feature of the G35 AWD system design is the addition of a Snow-Mode function, which reduces throttle sensitivity and fixes initial torque distribution at 50:50, helping avoid wheel spin for smooth starts on snowy roads. At speeds above 12 miles per hour, the Snow-Mode function allows the central computer processing system to take over again, continually monitoring traction conditions and changing the torque distribution as needed" from this from this link:

Not sure if there is any change with the '05's or '06's, but this feature looks useful for driving up steep, snow packed hills or after the town snow plow put a wall of snow in front of your driveway.

 

I have to admit that I have not taken the time to dig in to the manual but, I think you are wrong on this. There is NO limitation on use of the snow button on dry surfaces. The G35X is not an old Willis Jeep with locking differentials. Snow mode simply reduces throttle response and and modifies the torque distribution going to the front wheels vs. rear wheels at a higher speed than it would when not using the snow mode.

Basically the system workers the same only the point (speed) at which you become a rear wheel drive vehicle is at a higher speed.

The ATTESSA system is smart and it will not let you do damage to it.

 

My experience in my o5x during snow days. for two whole days this winter, WE HAD SNOW!! yeeeaa, anyway during those days i was late for college (commuter) cuz of cleaning my car of snow, so i took the highway with snow mode on, and i had to speed to get to class, the car handle like perfection. i went up to 70 abit slow for me since it was snowing n i wanted to get there alive. no rattles or shaking of anykind at that speed, and snow mode was on the whole day even after i turn off my car and 4get to switch botton off. You can tell the difference between snowmode and regular drive becuase of the acceleration. regular drive u accelerate ur body leans backward, the car jumps abit, but snowmode i found out accelerate steadily, it wont jump on u. all those with problems going highspeed with snowmode on, should go ask ur dealer. goodluck dont get kill.
