Go for it (I personally don't believe in breakins) but as long as you keep it below whatever the manual says ~4K rpms there should be no problem.

Go for it.
The debate about break-ins is neverending, but it's not a long time to endure, and it's what Nissan recommends.....
I'm sure the use of manu-matic in a careful manner is fine.

The only thing I wouldn't recommend using during this time is Cruise Control. Varying engine/car speed is very important to the break-in process.
Enjoy
C.

I did. I also botched the 'don't exceed 4000 RPM' rule a couple of times because I failed to properly anticipate the shift.

It's okay. My car hasn't exploded and wheels still go round-and-round so I guess she'll survive.

Let us know if you have a hard shift between 1-2 or 2-3 when you're pushing it. It seems to be a common thing. I get a firm shift from 2-3 when I really have my foot in it, but no hard THUNK like some have reported.

Go for it. I used it all the time on my mom's during break-in. I shift it at about 5k one time at about 900 miles. Not a big deal IMO as the car is under warranty and I doubt any bad things will happen.

The only danger is if you forget to shift, and you rev it too high. Otherwise, go ahead and use the MM mode.

It won't kill your motor to rev over 4000 now and then during breakin. In fact, it's probably good for the motor. In general, I believe it's best to take it easy during the first 1200 miles but you don't have to totally baby it.

i was curious if anyone knows if the engine would be stronger and possibly a little faster because i drive it so hard

What I have been told is that during break in you don't want to down shift to slow the car (compression breaking I think they call it).

What you DO want to do is load down the engine by shifting too early and kind of over loading the engine. This creates higher cylinder pressures and forces the piston rings to seat properly.

I have also been told that the first 10-20 miles are the most critical during the break in period.

I followed this advice, I still never (OK Really) beat on my car and I have been able to get 25 to 26 HWY MPG's, in a G35X which from what I'm told is pretty good for the AWD G.

Just remember, some of the best engine builders in the world (AMG, Hennessy, Lingenfelter, Gale Banks) all dyno EACH engine when it is brand new. These dynos run the engines to redline repeatedly under load.

I have always changed the oil around 300-500 miles on my new cars (get any manufacturing residue out of factory oil) and then off to the races!

And for the manumatic, use at will.
