5/16 Isothermal Spacer vs. 1/2

Ok, so i know spacers have been talked about on here before. But I'm curious to know what the difference is between 1/2 spacer and 5/16" spacer, besides the obvious of size. Some sights lead you to believe 1/2 will fit, other sites say no, the engine cover won't fit back on.

Regardless, is there a difference in sound between the two? If I get a 5/16", will I even notice performance gains and the nice deep sound I'm looking for? If not, what is the benefit of a 5/16???

Guess my question is if you had to buy one, which would you get, 5/16 or 1/2, and why?

I got the 5/16" because I knew the engine cover would fit. SportZ Magazine also did dyno tests and the gains for the 1/2" over the 5/16" were negligible.

ummmm SEARCH ???

MREV will work on all years, regardless of transmission type

5/16ths, more area under curve
1/2, higher peak numbers

I appreciate that people don't want to re-write all the same information over again solely for a new guy's benefit, but the older more experienced guys out there need to keep in mind the difficulty in finding the information you need on this site. By now there's literally dozens of threads on spacers alone, and each thread contains pages and pages of messages. It takes forever to read through all that garbage, especially since the majority of the content ends up being "your dyno is bs" or similar conflict.

For those of us who are relatively new to all this information, searching isn't the all-encompassing solution that you'd like to think it is. It takes forever, and most of the time you don't get a real consensus. Re-asking questions later down the road is a good opportunity for experienced people out there to briefly summarize previous arguments and/or provide any new perspective they've gained since the original posts were made.

Also, keep in mind that putting the phrase "just search for old posts" ends up killing a thread, since most people then assume that there's no point in posting.

True..... thats why I gave him the gist of what the difference is between the two spacers. And gave him the exact link as to the effects of MREV on pre rev up motors.

Like what vt_maverick said, i DID search the forums, including the one you sent me. I realize people ask the same questions again. I was just looking for people to voice their opinions of their spacers so i can understand performance/sound differences between the 2. I didn't see that really answered to my satisfaction anywhere. If it was something you've read before, you didn't have to click on the thread. If your reason was to help me out, than thanks, but you came off pretty sour.

I think that's a bit confusing. I had to go back and try to understand it.

If you have a REV Up engine. ie.. 05/06 MT, the MREV is a Non-Rev up lower collector + spacer + any thermo accessories.

But if you don't have a REV UP engine, "MREV" is just the spacer (in whatever size) and/or any plenum. In general, this isn't commonly called "MREV". Just "spacer" or "plenum" mod.

Now the sticky new wrinkle in all of these is Hydrazine's NEW discovery. This being machining a NON-REV UP lower collector (basicly any lower manifold other than the 05-06 MT?) and just adding a spacer/plenum.

So this mod for the MREV+REV UP engine guys = MREV+

But it seems this machined lower collector will work on any NON-REV up engine OR anyone that's currently has the MREV modification. (as both utilizes the NON-REV UP lower iintake manifold). You can see the description of MREV+. ("MREV Plus TM - Standard lower collector with modified Iintake Runners for reduced pressure drop")

So to all of us NON-REV UP guys, it's just a machined lower manifold (our stock unit) + spacer (ie.. the combo mentioned in your link) or a Plenum (as mentioned in my question in your link)

Note: Sorry for the typo of iintake. I hate the link thing
