Broken Windshield Wipers
Does anyone know why my wipers would stop being able to spray fluid on the windshield with no warning? I brought it to the dealer and all of a sudden they worked...they flushed and filled the tank in case, and then as soon as I left, and ever since Monday, the wipers don't spray more than a drop or two on the windshield.
It's as if they are possessed. They don't work, they work at the dealer and then they don't work again...very frustrating.
Thanks for anyone's help.

Re: Broken Windshield Wipers
I have not had a problem like that but I have had another problem that I can not get to reoccur at the dealer. It does make me look like an idiot but what can you do. We spend more time in our car than they ever will so we see these things and they made us nuts. Eventually it works out and you can get it resolved.
Good luck!

Re: Broken Windshield Wipers
Think how the system works
I am not sure of the exact details on these newer cars but here goes
Pull back stalk and a signal is sent ot the computer(or relays)that turns on the wipers and fluid pump
The problem could be a connection, bad wire or bad switch in the stalk.
I would guess the stalk as you can not get it to work but the dealer can. Different people move things differently. Check out moving the stalk in slightly different positions and see if this helps.
Have a healthy day!

Re: Broken Windshield Wipers
Thanks Juiceman,
Unfortunately this is how it went down...when I got to the dealer, rather than just leave my car there, I asked them if it could be a fuse...they said maybe, but let's check the fluid first, we did, it was not as full as it was...so I was wondering if there is a leak, but they filled it and it didn't take that much so a leak was pretty much out, at least as a cause, then they got in and simply pulled the lever back and amazingly it worked...perfectly. I got in, and did it and it worked perfectly. Then they flushed it...just to see if something was blocking the passageway...I left and on the way home, I tried it and nothing...I would've turned around...but I was late for an appointment as it was.
I have since tried to pull it towards me...wiggle it up and down or whatever and pull it towards me. Nothing but a drop every time...I am lost at this point...if it were a fuse, it never would have worked in the dealer's parking lot...if it were a connection...it could still be that.
The dealer is supposed to call me back...supposed to...it's now going on 48 hrs with no call.

Re: Broken Windshield Wipers
Just call them... I'm not a fan of waiting for people to call when they have a list of hundreds. Make sure they remember you and know you've got a prob. More than likely, they'll say "We were just about to call you!" whent they pick up the phone, hehe...

Re: Broken Windshield Wipers
They actually called me today...I have an appointment two more mondays from now on the 29th...They also quoted me $605 for XM Sat installation...on my SAT ready G35...I am going to post and see where that falls for good vs. bad pricing.

Re: Broken Windshield Wipers
The dealer figured it out...the company who replaced my windshiel a month ago mis layed the wiper tubing down and when the hood was pinched it was crimping the hose...thus disabling the path of flow...this is why, when I was home or at the dealer with the hood open and troubleshooting, they would work fine...all set now.

Re: Broken Windshield Wipers
The body shop did the same thing to our Maxima last month.
The replaced the hood. With the hood down, no washer fluid
would come out. When the hood was open, the washer
worked OK. They routed the fluid tube incorrectly such
that it was crushed by the hood when down. Bostards!

Re: Broken Windshield Wipers
I think all cars are manufactured with a Dealership Proximity Sensor. As long as you keep the car within 100ft of the service dept., you shouldn't experience any problems.
