If you could change one thing.

the only thing i would change would be the engine.
lexus's direct injection 3.5L V6 will own the VQ if lexus decides to ramp up power.
bmw's new turbo engine will do likewise if they decide to ramp up power.
I would drop in a 3.7L V8 into the G. Produce 320hp @ 7500 AT and 330hp @ 7500rpm 6MT to start. if toyota and bmw want to play games, rev the 6MT to 340hp @ 8,000 rpm. lexus wouldnt be able to match the smoothness and power abilities and top end of such an engine. That engine would also have more potential down the road.. it could probably last another generation and output 380-400hp.

All I want for christmas is torque and to be more specific low end torque. 310hp...320hp...350hp who cares if the torque is still sitting at 260.
Better paint.
Better sound system. I think the new one will be a slight improvement, but it's still a Blose.
Smoother 6MT tranny.
Better wipers man the current ones suck.
VDC switch someplace that's a little easier to get at.
Better sound proofing in the rear wheel wells.

Coincidentally, that's what I'd like from the G35. 300HP is very respectable for an entry-level sport sedan. Just give me responsive torque everywhere in the rev range.

The only logical benefit of having the tach on the left is that you can overlap the tach and the speedo. The tach doesn't need as wide of a display range and only revs to about 1 o'clock.
