Edmunds for a speaker review...? I rest my case...
BTW, I've posted your comments on avsforum.com - one of the internet's recognized authority on this matter. I'll let them chew on your comments and your products as people have done so on this forum in the past so elliquently .
But I'm sure to you were all just a bunch of "elementary educated" people.

Fine, state for us the 5 primary design criteria for cone materials, and if you are as smart as you say, you could even let us know what primary design tradeoffs are made between those criteria for a particular cone material ... say aluminum.
You state that aluminum is more expensive to manufacture than "paper"
Why don't you start by telling us what formulation of "paper" it is that is so cheap. Then, tell us the cost difference between aluminum and paper for a give cone size/geometry? And are you really sure aluminum is all that good? Sure, it's stiff, but at what weight? And have you noticed that aluminum makes for great wind chimes ...as in it rings on and on and ... wonderful for speaker cones, right?
You talk about cone breakup. Have you measured it before? Which automotive drivers have you tested. At what frequency and excursion level did they breakup? What type of breakup did you observe? Do you really think DSP processing can compensate for breakup modes (hopeless, you are)?
Cone breakup is a very complex process, to the point where the onset of a breakup mode may not be as important as the specific characteristics of the breakup. it may be preferable to have a little earlier breakup that is relatively benign over that which occurs at higher excursions but that has more audible characteristics.
And, finally you take a pot shot at DSP as a bandaid. Pray tell me why you think signal processing is not a good way to correct for automotive cabin acoustics.

Why is it so inconceivable to believe that Bose, like any manufacturer, makes high end and low end systems? It was mentioned that the system in the M (Bose) is better than the system in the G35.. This shows that Bose IS capable of producing a decent sound system but it's in Infiniti hands to choose the system they want for the car... I agree that I actually like the stock sound system better than the upgraded Bose system because it was clearer but the new one may be a significant upgrade. I'm happy enough for Infiniti that they are so in tune with what weaknesses they did have in the G35 and strived to improve them.

...and there are quite a bit of audio manufacturers that only manufacture true high-end systems, that in some cases costs just as much as Bose changes for some of their "high-end" systems.

Disclaimer etc.
Rlampke,
You posted my comments to another forum without my permission. Well, I have to admit that I didn't post a disclaimer so it's my fault for letting you do something that unprofessional...

When Lampke Leaves ...
Folks,
I was hoping this would be a good forum for discussing all things good and bad about the g35 (and I've drive the new one ... a LOT of fun).
But, I should have known better than to post in a forum where someone as irrational and closed-mided as Rlampke lurks.
Let me know when he's gone and I'll come back.

Unfortunately I do not need your permission to repost yours, or any other's comments that are available publicly in this forum - or any open-public forum for that matter. You waved that right as soon as you chimed in on this thread. If you feel you have been disenfranchised, I suggest your seek legal console on the matter. Give that, I may even post your comments on the feedback section available on your corporate website. I'm sure whoever is on the receiving end of this link would be interested to here your unprofessional comments as well.
If your so confident in your position and your company’s products that you represent/design/sell or wherever it is you do, are so superior and worthy to stand along side of other established names; or are better, then stick up for it. I’m sure this conversation is very interesting to many others who feel how such a POS system ended up in the G. And if you really want to post “value”, how about giving us some inside technical details about your new system: close-up photos of the triple speaker array in the front doors w/the panels removed, internal HD operation, ect, ect - proving that this new sysem is not just the same POS w/some additional speakers added. Instead you choose to cut-and-run. Surely your products and you can stand up to the likes of the "elementary educated".

Unfortunately, he's right. I just checked the "terms and conditions" of using this forum and there is nothing in them about asking permission to quote someone from here.
Does that make it OK? No. Common Courtesy dictates that you ask someone before quoting them. But courtesy seems to be sorely lacking here.

I'm just a simple consumer, but every car I've owned has had a Bose/Clarion unit in it and they have always been mediocre.
Has anyone sat in an Acura TL? The sounds system will blow you mind by comparison.

I really find it interesting that everyone has an opinion on a sound system that absolutely no one has heard and is probably not even finalized yet. Yes Bose has produced a lot of over priced low quality speakers in the past. However, there is a first for everything. Infiniti has claimed in their press releases that the car will have “Two-channel high-end audiophile audio”. If it has anything less than that then you can bash it all you want. Until then don’t you think our time is better spent arguing over whether you like the new body style or interior? Both of which we have seen.
